Really? Why so?

Coz Remedy Ent. thought a man running around with multiple bullet hits on the head would just look too silly.

Like the original Hitman? Ha ha yeah, that did look stupid. But I don't care about how silly it might look, I just want to know, could it be done? Is it technically possible?

Nope. Remedy completely scrapped it out of the base codes. There was an early Max Payne development progress screenshot which indeed had bullet hit wounds on the body of Max. But thats Uber past now. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

That's too bad, it would've been a killer feature. Still, I guess I've got bigger problems, like trying to figure out why the player camera hates me personally. Thanks anyway for your help.

It is possible in a sense. I created a small mod about a dew months ago that evertime you shot a enemy it would place a skin_item on them and the skin_item is a wound model.

So yeah you can have decals, they may not be right on but its something, and its cooler to have a 3d wound instead of a flat 2d texture. More realistic.

Theres a way to do everything in Max Payne, may not be exactly the correct way but there are smoke a mirrors you can do. Any questions just PM me.

^^
That WOULD look pretty stupid.. you can shoot them on the corner of the arm and the skin item will hang off the sides.

yes! akari the uber-modder strikes again. with another uber-mod he created but never ever mentioned, showed or released. this is the point where it's your turn again to post some fake screenshot of this mod, akari.

anyways, throughout game-engines decals are being referred to as normal projections of 2d textures on a polygon or face. calling a level-item, randomly stuck to a character, a decal is blasphemy.

You could only use two spots. For example a head and a stomache. If you'd hit someone in the leg it'll still go to the stomache. It'd look pretty stupid but ADM's assumption is not really true.

Well it's no big deal, just a neat idea that I had. In hindsight, the fact that it hadn't been done already should have told me something. I think for now I'll just concentrate on getting the first person camera and the ragdolls to behave the way I want them to, which is giving me headaches enough.
