Notes: very noisy video sequences, as they were taken with my 2 MP digicam with crap lighting. So I tried to stylize it with blur and some filtering/contrast. Some scenes might be hard to make out what they are, to get the simple story across.
So basically I did what I could with a digicam and iMovie. It looked much better (HD quality http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif) in my head of course, and some day I'll be making decent videos. But eh, this be my (4th, actually) attempt.
Lastly I am not liable if this video makes you cry at it's awfulness. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/redface.gif

Hell, I liked that!
Knowing what you had to work with, that's quite a mood you've developed!
Keep up the work, and it will only improve...
And I'll bet on that!
btw - never criticize your own work (i.e. "hey everybody, check out this load of shit picture I painted with Window's Paint!") - dig?

Heh thanks. Well the thing is I usually recognize when something is decent or is crap. The video, I think the concept is something that could be done well, and better. Although I'll have to wait until I get a good cam (I have a film I want to do and release on DVD in a few years, already have a basic idea).
Here are some screencaps.

Here's the explanation of the video if you can't make out what's going on. It's the original idea, and a couple things are a tad different but this is most of it:
00:00 - 00:30: blurry shot of talking on phone, cropped below eyes. Transitions to clear.
00:30 - 00:40: hand lowers, holding phone
00:40 - 00:50: opening envelope, sliding out letter
00:50 - 01:10: slowly scans down the letter
01:10 - 01:30: blurry, fades into footer of letter (handwritten 'goodbye...')
01:30 - 02:00: zoom out of flowers
02:00 - 03:00: remove ring, placed on desk. Drop of water (tear) appears (didn't do well, got lazy w/ lighting)
03:00 - 03:30: quick slideshow/flicker back of flowers, letter, ring, phone
03:30 - 03:50: zoom out, focus on gloomy photo. Show URL

http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Yeah but I was informed I have to change it, as animated avatar's aren't allowed. I barely consider mine animated anyway, but I guess you can't exclude one person out of everyone else. So now I got think up a equally amusing non-animated avatar. EEh!

Interesting teaser, definately cool work...
No offense here but I'm reminded of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (the ability to erase memories).
Keep us posted with this project of yours.

Oh no problem. I mentioned the similarity in one of my threads "What other movies involve this idea" because I knew my idea wasn't too original. But I figured if it's been done enough times, I can get away with my style of it. But since it's so early, even the core plot could heavily transform.
I've been looking into DV cameras, looks like some nice, generally affordable options (I mean instead of spending $30,000 I can spend $6500)... but I have alot to learn before I jump in. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I always do my research on big purchases, it is well worth it.

What kind of camera are you using now? Mine is from the 80's haha!
I like the Dv's I've used, but I haven't shopped around and really looked at what options are out there for cameras - so don't take my word for it!
I will say however, that you should have a fire-wire port if you're going to use one. You can have USB to transfer from the DV, but you can't use it to transfer to the DV unless you have Firewire (I'm pretty sure on that).
Not sure why you'd need to transfer to the DV but who knows what you'll do when you're making a film?

Yup I pretty much avoid USB for mass transfer. I've got a Powerbook and look to build a G5 dual-monitor setup, so it'll be a nice production station for my music and video.
Right now video footage is shot with a 2 MP Kodak digicam and photos taken with it. And then edited in iMovie to kinda make the crappiness a bit stylish. :P
I am kinda interested in this one, but not necessarily interested in High-def:

That looks to be a device for theatres/cinemas, not indie-joe-schmoe in his bedroom. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
