Easiest way I've found is to take an image, convert it to gif through PSP, and then import through Editart.
You can't import jpgs.

Is there any way to insert a jpg or bmp onto the build?

if u want to import JPEG, just use paint, PSP, Photoshop or anything that will open JPEG (almost anything) then save as GIF format. Same with BMP, convert to GIF. You may have to do the transperant parts yourself though, and other computers won't see the imported textures unless they have the ART files which isn't really a friendly thing to share, as it could overwrite their own tiles.

^He's saying what WhyteTyger has said, except you'll need to make the ART files available with the map using them for others to see certain tiles.

Those certain tiles being the custom ones. Really, tiles aren't friendly for giving out because if everyone did it with their map it would be hell. It's not like Descent where the custom tiles save into the mission file.

Use Dukeres if u only want to insert textures:

Editart never worked for me, is there not a better way?
Everytime I saved my work it never really saved. And I'd sat there like an idiot editing stuff.

Thanx!
I managed to import pictures to editart like u all told me.
However, one more question, how do i save the image on editart so that my build will read it?

you need ALL the .art files in the directory where the editart.exe file is.

Didn't you just press V and it asked you wether or not to save the tile?

You could do that, or use the PgUp/Dn buttons (previous/next tile), then hit Y.
Also, you don't need ALL of the .art files out, but it's wise to have at least tiles000.art in the directory, as well.

And when converting a jpg or bmp file to gif, make sure you import the Duke palette (take any picture from duke 3d, normally a screen shot, and open it in PSP and save the color palette) before you decrease the color amount to 256 colors. This normally makes the picture look a great deal better looking, some times you might have to touch it up abit to remove any unwanted colors.
