I just ordered House of 1000 Corpses from Amazon. Haven't seen it, but heard it was just so so, however this new sequel is twisted to the level of Hooper's Texas Chainsaw Massacre and quite well made.
Anyone seen this?

The original was apparently Rob's traitorous attempt to convince aliens to destroy the earth (so that humanity never again creates anything that godawful). Not content to wait for the alien missiles to traverse the galaxy, I can only assume that he made the sequel to make me want to destroy the earth. As a good citizen, I have refrained from watching it so that we all may live another few hundred years.

I agree with your assessment of the first one, but Devils Rejects is actually pretty good. A little overindulgent in the editing (The ending in particular goes on and on and on...) but still leaps and bounds above it's predecessor in acting, photography, and overall style.
Personally, I think that IMDB must be lying when they say both flicks cost $7 million. Rob would have to have spent most of the first film's budget on hookers and blow, because it's definitely not on the screen; House of a 1000 Corpses looking like a TV movie and all. While The Devil's Rejects looks like it cost more than twice it's budget. Maybe Rob went to film school in the interim or something...

I was impressed. I was expecting pure shit when I walked in. Instead I got pure shit, but in a good way.
It wasn't GREAT. A bit wierd. I laughed a bit. Chicken ***** conversation was just plain funny.

Hated it. Seemed twisted for the sake of being twisted...

Finally watched this on DVD last night. Twisted. Nice to have someone shaking up the horror/slasher genre a bit as we've been fed Wes Craven crap for too long.
