I'm not really interested in watching the footage, but at http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/ they have the full 4 hours of the hurricane relief concert.

I read at The NIN Hotline that you need Windows XP/2000 or else you won't be able to view. Why? Because Windows Media Player on Windows has DRM, and on the Mac it doesn't.

I figured what a crock of shit that is. So I'm digging around in the source trying to access layers of pages or Flash.. theres so many javascript checks. I was hoping to post some source people could save and view eventually, but it was pretty futile. It prob. would've helped if I knew javascript, although I'm familiar with general if/then programming stuff.

Just pisses me off. They didn't want anyone stealing the content. Hello - I can watch on my TV and record to VHS - TV will probably be the biggest demographic anyway.

Eh, I tried to help the Mac crowd but noooo http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Why not do just that? No need to go overboard....

I know, but I was thinking about the Mac users who would prefer to watch it online or perhaps its an only choice for some, and how they're completely excluded.

So much software that has crossed over to Mac is outdated. Yahoo updated Messenger for Windows recently, but Mac's hasnt been updated for over 2 years.

If it makes you feel any better it tells me to use IE (I use firefox) so it doesn't work for me either since I refuse to use IE especially on such a site as MTV.

Frankly I've never done the "security update" that many wmv files ask for so this probably wouldn't run on my PC even with IE...

I went like this:

Update flash player (small download)
Update WMP 9 to 10 (18 MB download)

PRESTO! I'm now good enough to watch the feckin' video.

You didn't have wmp 10? Well thats not their fault really. I've met sites that demanded Quicktime 6 and I had 5 installed. There really is no reason NOT to upgrade unless you fear change that badly. If the update didn't exist then maybe I would agree with you.

Upgrading isn't the issue.

I'm just pissed about this DRM crap, and how Mac devs are slow to catch up.
