As I'm sure most will agree, both have their traits.

Duke Nukem was the first game I ever played, and it's hooked me on gaming for years, now. Keen, on the other hand, was very creative and very fun, much like Duke, but I didn't feel like I was just trying to shoot things in Keen. It felt like there was almost a sense of purpose.

Since Duke was the only game I had for a while, and it was my first, it has an almost sentimental place with me. However, if I had played Keen first, I probably would've thought Duke sort of lame.

I'd say Duke Nukem. It was a step up from keen1, which I thought was little too sluggish

They were both cool when they came out. I think Keen was a huge step for computer games, but Duke was a huge step as far as computer games comming on par with arcade games.

I played Keen first - it was the biggest game around at the time for the PC. Everything else looked whimpy.

I prefer Duke Nukem over Keen. Sure, Duke is choppier, but it's lots more fun. Same with Duke 2.

Keen was more fun than Duke, because you had a pogo to jump all over the place with.

Duke & Duke2... more fun, more action. Cool weapons... and that Duke2 intro is just hilarious http://www.3drealms.com/ubb/images/icons/grin.gif

Keen1 is much better. I never really liked Duke1. Duke2 on the other hand wasn't bad, but the full version on Duke2 really sux, compared to the shareware version. Level Design in the later episodes, just are horible.

I prefer Duke1 over Keen, Duke kicked ass http://www.3drealms.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif. I prefer Duke1 over Duke2 as well, the way the background blurred when walking in Duke2 was annoying/distracting ( I don't think they were up to the task of scrolling backgrounds yet).

Hmmm, tough call...

Duke 1:

+ 2-layer scrolling
+ grappling hook
+ cool level design
+ varied level design (it was in a bunch of different places, and it was colorful.)

- story isn't too good
- You can only move horizontally in increments of 8.
- only 10 levels

Keen1 :

+ funny story, humorous atmosphere (The martians want our toys? Who knew?)
+ totally smooth scrolling
+ Lots of levels (plus secret levels), and a main world you can explore
+ Pogo stick

- Only 1 layer of scrolling
- The level design is alright, but there aren't as many things you can do with the tiles as in Duke Nukem.
- All of the levels are either dull gray, or dull black

Hard to say.. they're pretty much tied. And I played them both a lot when I was a kid. But I probably like Keen more, just by a little bit.
