Rise of the Triad 2 and other ROTT stuff?

hello,

I still play ROTT (Rise of the Traid) over say: Doom and Doom 2. I was wondering if 3d realms was going to make Rise of the Traid 2? with a story and so on. Also I would like to know why doesn't the wad2art.exe work with ROTT? ROTT is a WAD game and should it work? And why doesn't it work with Strife either? It's also a WAD game that is a modified Doom engine.

It would take a lot more than 150 signatures to actually get us to do a new version of ROTT. Would take something on the order of around a million.

i, for one would love a new ROTT
but i think that it may come as a dissapointment .
for starters, the game was created from the mind of Tom Hall who is no longer with Apogee (3dRealms, i know, i know), and without him the game would just not be 'it'
not only that, but most of the staff who made ROTT, and all of the lead guys have left to do something else.

however, if there will be a ROTT2 (Return Of The Triad) i would buy it on the spot.
but i'm afraid it's "Not Gonna Happen"

I hope that some close followers of ROTT remember when I had my HOTT ROTT SPOTT at Geocities. I had a guestbook that served as a ROTT2 petition book. I remember having at least 150 unique signatures in that book. It's a shame that I don't have it anymore or I would submit it to someone at Apogee. Anyways, I feel that there should be serious considerations into making a sequel. That would be a dominant force in the 1st person shooter genre. It's time to put a sequel in motion & continue the saga of this legenday game. Anyone else think so?

Nope. Tom is not a programmer. Tom hall may have worked on Doom, and had his name removed from the credits, but I can guarantee that he didn't come up with a file format.

Hey ROTTMaster! I remember you! You are the guy who put up the Warez links in HOTT ROTT SPOTT until I pressured you to take them down. You also put up an article glorifying software piracy, even asking for a pirated program you couldn't find! You said that I tried to censor you (I wouldn't call that censorship, BTW).

Well, that's over with now. All is forgiven. I'm glad that you put up a ROTT2 petition. I, for one, love a ROTT sequel. ROTT kicks ass!

Commander, I'm not gonna get into the whole argument again with you. Just know that you're the sole reason why I had to degrade that article from a magnificent piece of informative literature to the mediocre, pathetic piece of junk that it is now. I apologize to all of my visitors for that (if you guys wanna blame someone for that, now you know who to blame). As you may be able to tell, I'm still a bit upset about that, but it's all in the past. While "Destroying All Pirated Software" is a great goal to have, amost all of us don't live in Candyland & know that this is impossible to do. Good luck with it though.

I'm also sad to report that Joe is not willing to grant me the exclusive interview that I had promised my readers for so long. I can't tell you why not, just know that it "Ain't gonna happen". Once again, I apologize to my visitors for that. I'm sure that he'll quote me in his reply (if there is one) like he does with every other response.

Well Joe, first of all you asked me, "What else do you want to know? There's really little more that I can tell you about the game. But if you want to ask a question, just ask it."

That sounds like to me that you're just trying to blow it off, like it doesn't matter anymore. But I think (& I know that I'm not the only one) that it does. If it didn't matter anymore, would you have all of these recent posts about ROTT?

Second, I don't just want to ask you "a question". I've never seen an interview yet that the interviewer asks the guest just 1 question. Could you imagine that on Oprah? I still think that there are a few questions that need to be answered about this game which I would like to discuss, if possible.

Last, I hope I don't come across as being a pain in the arse. That's the last thing that I want to portray myself to be towards the Apogee crew (& especially towards a former DIP). I have loved this game from day 1 & still do today (almost 6 years later). I just get a little bit frustrated at times & my patience slips a bit. Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that you guys did an excellent job on ROTT & it would be an honor for me to get some of my questions answered from "the horse's mouth". Thanks.
