Joe's voice??

On a post a few months back, when promted with the question "what voice will joe be doing" by nancho in the big list o questions for george, George claimed that one Joseph "3dr Forums Admin Dude" Siegler would not be recording voices for DNF. But, a look at the photo caption archives suggests that joe has recorded some voices for dnf for the current version.

I believe that photo was taken a couple of years ago (like for the 2001 version) and when they restarted he just wasn't planned in to do stuff...

I've seen this in camera captioning, I just never bothered to read what was happening in reality. So he was doing recording for DNF. But you can't tell what year that was in.

Yeah, George said that Joe didn't have any roles in DNF when Nacho asked him those 13 questions. He said that maybe a few people from 3D realms might do voicework, here or there.

Well, the only way to tell if things are official is if we indeed hear from Mr. Siegler himself, which may be as soon as tomorrow. I cannot be the judge of what he's going to voice over in the game. It's for sure that it'll be far more than that "I'm Back" line of his from Duke II. I dunno now...

Well, he just said he didn't have a role in DNF. We know Joe did some early placeholder voicework because he said so himself - that was what I was confirming, along with the part of the video in which it appeared.

This was four years ago when I did this. The usage of the voice work was in the 01 trailer. George pointed out that it's not in the game anymore.

I don't have any info to confirm or deny what he says, so unless something's going on I'm not aware of in usage of my voice work, it's out.

Indeed. There's usually an assload of temporary voice work in a game - the mappers have to have something in there until the real professionally recorded voice talent gets in there.

I did more temp voice work like that about 6-8 months ago or so, but I'd be stunned if it gets used in the final game - it's not terribly good stuff, it was just to have a different voice in there besides the other temp voice stuff, I'm sure.

That's just the contest it's used for. That doesn't have any bearing as to when the picture was taken. Two of the last three pics I used were taken at E3 2001, so you can't pick the usage date as when it was taken.

Oh yeah, that trailer was on the DN:MP CD, I believe. I do believe I've heard that line on there. BTW, was that Lani Jackson (was that her last name?) as that gal that complained about the people turning into monsters? I know that's sort of off topic, but it is related to past voices. Then again, Jon St. John's voice is the role for Duke now, I remember Joe doing his voice for DN 2 about 12 years ago, or whenever that was released, I believe I heard him in ROTT somewhere, but ROTT goes back too long for me to remember things. I know all this may be somewhat off topic, but there's a lot for anyone in the right mind to cover.

So you did voice work for the current version, but it probably won't be in when the game is released. I like all the voice work of yours that has been in games like Duke Nukem 2,rott,2001 trailer,ect. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Maybe one or two lines of yours will be used, you never know,but I guess the chances of that aren't good.

I never said that. It was never implied. None of my voice work was clearly distingushable. The only place I'm aware of it was used was where I said. That scene where you see the pinball machine on screen, and there's a car driving up to a checkpoint of some sort.
