One of my suppliers today listed in their price list some new Sony TFT-TVs that are really good and cheap, but don't have VGA connector, only HDMI.

I know that HDMI is 100% compatible with DVI, but I have read horror stories from people trying in vain to make their DVI graphics cards work with their HDMI TVs; but I don't know if is because user-cluelessness, or real incompatibilities.

Then, searching, I found in the official HDMI page that HDMI is compatible with "Profile CEA-861" DVI. Somebody knows if this is the DVI standard "profile" used by graphics cards?

Somebody has a HDMI TV and tried to connect his/hers computer to it?

Any info will be appreciated.

HDMI basically means DVI with content encryption. I think the problems you heard of came from TVs expecting encrypted material rather than standard DVI signals.

I don't think that you will have problems with a monitor rather than a TV.
