Sources inside G4 Media have leaked information indicating that Charles Hirschhorn has been released from his duties at G4. As most of you might know, Charles Hirshhorn was the man who spearheaded the purchase of TechTV from Vulcan Ventures and pretty much obliterated everything related to tech (cancellation of TechLive, The Screen Savers, Call for Help with Leo Laporte).
Apparently someone else will be calling the shots, Call for Help, though produced in Canada's G4TechTV (Rogers), has returned to the United States, along with other shows (Future Fighting Machines and Nerd Nation).
More news as it develops.

It's good that they got him out of the way, it went from Screensavers to Fastlane (that crappy show featuring that chick from Saved By The Bell and that Mtv VJ who used to be the voice for a puppet on Mtv, that failed on FOX and was picked up by G4... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif).
It doesn't ensure that all the great shows from TechTV will make a comeback though... And I don't know how true this stuff is, but with the blatant dog crap they throw on G4 I wouldn't be surprised they put him up on the chopping block.

That doesn't automatically mean the return of the old TechTV stuff.
Call for Help has bee non the air in G4 Canada for some time now, it's not like it magically reappeared again NOW.
The only show that originated on the G4 side of things that's any good is Icons. Also G4tv.com isn't bad, but that's mostly becaues of Geoff Keighley, not the blonde with the nose piercing on that show. Blech.

I know Joe, but if the guy is bringing back old shows, that means something. That other guy would have made another "Video Game Chick Shaking Her Ass" show. I already knew Call For Help was in Canada the whole time, which was odd to me, I mean, you could have had it in the US too.

Call for Help has been back before this guy was fired - that is my point. Don't read too much into it.
It might be worth listening to the next Twitcast to see if they say anything about it.

BTW, don't misunderstand me. I LOVED TechTV. I want it back. I just don't see it happening on G4, no matter who is in charge.

I miss Invent This and Screen Savers where they actually did computer hardware reviews. I don't like all these fast and furious like car shows, since when does a nerd like drifting and drama (fastlame).
Also miss that show where the whole thing reviewed tech. Filter was much better when it was all about games, now only 1/4 is about games and the rest is about movies and whatever they think is important.
I still like X-Play, Electric Playground, Judgment Day, and Icons. Their "On Demand" (Bright House Cable) channel is total crap, 5 minute clips and some anime show in place of full shows.

The only stuff I watch on G4 now is:
Xplay (Morgan & Adam)
Icons (they do good retrospectives usually)
G4tv.com (Because of Geoff Keighley, an old friend of 3DR's)
That's about it. I watched Screen Savers for awhile after it went to G4, but it degenerated pretty quickly, and since they gave it it's stupid name now, I don't bother.
I'll occasionally tune into Call for Help. I like the show, but I don't have the time for an hour long daily show like that 5 days a week. If it was 30 minutes a day, I'd probably watch all of them, or if it was just on a few days a week, I'd probably watch all of 'em.
Stuff I missed from TechTV that's now gone..
Cybercrime, Fresh Gear (Sumi Das.. yum!), The Screen Savers, The Tech Of, Tech Live, and Unscrewed, but mostly for Laura Swisher. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Tech Live I miss most of all as it was a daily 30 minute recap of the tech news of the day. I wish THAT survives, but it hasn't.
Some individuals I miss too: Megan Morrone, Jessica Corbin, Michaela Pereira, Sumi Das, Chris Leary, Stepanie Siemiller, Kate Botello, and most of all probably Becky Worley.
Some of these folks I keep up on as they have blogs, but not all do that I'm aware of.
