Lost coast needs a better graphics card, one that has has hardware pixel and vertex shaders.
The IGP 9000 doesn't have them.
And Lost Coast is more a tech demo than a level. It needs a really good computer (lots of memory, great graphics card, fast processor)

you can run them if you turn HDR off, almost undoubtedly

Like... What about DoD Source? Does that mean I can play DoD Source with HDR off? And what about Lost Cost? Can I play that with no HDR? I might be getting a new computer soon so that may mean I can play it. Or if we can get my other computer fixxed then will it run on nVivia GeForce 440 MX.

You won't be able to run Lost Coast at playable framerates. You should be able to run DoD:S. At reduced settings and resolution obviously.

How do you run CS:S? That should be the test.

I dunno. But I can run CSS with no noticable lag. It even runs smoother then Duke Nukem 3D. And will DoD have a "HDR off" option?

Then you should be fine. Yes, you can turn HDR off.

Yes, but some servers might demand it.

obvous: try improving your ram and video card.

yes, it will run with full detail, no AA, disable hdr and with a low resolution.

Even with a GeForce 440 MX, you won't be able to use HDR or any shaders. It's a DX7 card, you need a DX8 (DX9 would be better though).

I've got DX9

They mean support for DX9 effects...which your card isn't capable of. Simply having DX9 installed won't help http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yeah your card is a Direct X 7.0 based card.. you might have DX9 drivers but that doesn't mean squat.

To make it easy:

Pure DirectX9 cards:
Ati Radeon 9600, 9800 and higher (X series)
nVidia Geforce FX 5200 and higher (6 series and 7 series)

Note: While the Geforce FX 5200 and FX 5300 actually are Dx9 cards, the performance in Dx9 of these cards is horrible. This is not the case with the Radeon 9600 (but don't expect too much with that)

The best buy today is the Geforce 6600 series. They're cheap, come in AGP and PCI-Express flavours, have more than decent performance and the're reasonabily priced.

Edit to put more tech data:

While the Geforce 4 series are all Dx8 cards, the GeforceMx4 is a "Geforce 2" card (Dx7), so they don't have the newer Dx8 features. The FX 5200/FX 5300 are a similar case.

About Dx Software: You can have installed the lastest DirectX software, but this is only the software. To be able to use the new features every new version adds, the graphics card has to be designed for it (not only compatible), and have installed drivers for it that are at least as new as the DirectX version installed.

You... Mean? I feel sick.

The 5200 is a DX8 card. I used to have one. I believe the 5600 and up is DX9.

no, it is a dx9 card, 100% sure, I have one http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well, I guess the performance was so shitty when I had one I just assumed it was DX8 (I got it for free from a friend of mine http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif )

well, if a game can run in dx8 and dx9, it will pick dx8 for the Geforce FX 5200, because the performance will improve a lot, and then the game can pick higher quality settings, so the game looks better http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
it's probably that that confused you, but I play dx9 games fine on low settings.
