I heard a while ago about his return. I can't wait to see what project it actually is.

Apparently he's not the only one who left.

J. Sawyer (one of the lead designers from former Black Isle Studios) left as well, plus a bunch of other people.

I'm wondering about Tom Hall now...

Romero was amongst the best members of game development ever. I only wish he'd figure out where Daikatana was gonna go in the game ratings. Let's hope he learned from that mistake. Maybe he may revert back to his id Software days, and try and get some games together similar to those with today's technology, and gaming tech for the future.

He's never been gone. He was at Midway, but something wasn't right, he left and went to an upstart, much like Tom Hall did.

I would like to see a reunification with id, but it would require massive pride swallowing (among other things) on both sides.

I talked to John over MSN a few days ago. He said hes starting the new studio in or near San Francisco. He gave me a hint it might be an FPS that will be his first project.

It would do Id good if Romero would join them again. Maybe than Id's games would have more imagination and story than the simple run, gun and search for keycards crap games.
