Just saw a level from Dead or Alive 4, and thought the scenery looked like what I would expect from DNF :-D

It looks good. I think DNF's Vegas might have some of that style, but darker with more contrasts. Also as you progress through the game, I expect some of those lights to go out in spark-ridden explosions and local blackouts. The '01 trailer gave a good view of Las Vegas.

I just want to see a whole diverse design for DNF. The themes in Vegas could give us different fantasy environments while Nevada could be stark reality, gritty, dusty, hot, wet and dangerous. Mine levels with that giant worm would be good for the scares.

That is running on an equivalent system of a AMD Dual Core 4800 x2, SLI 7800 gtx system. The majority of people don't have that. Even if Duke could get that good looking, most people's computers would turn it into a slide show.

Your CPU estimate is off. Carmack said that in real world terms the performance of each Xbox 360 core would be half that of a similarly clocked PC chip.

That is actually not very far from what I'd like DNF to look like.
As Kalki mentioned, it'd probably be a bit darker, but hopefully not too much.
I also like the cityscape in the Serious Sam 2 demo and some of the Precursors screenshots (although both of these are also a bit too bright and colourful for 3DR's game).

To turn the question around, here's a couple of games that I hope DNF will not resemble: Deus Ex: Invisible War, Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay, DooM III, FEAR, Gears of War, UT2007 and, erm, Vivisector.

Dudetheman, I totally agree with you. If DNF's levels looked like that, I'd be very satisfied. In fact that's how I picture the game. If it's anything less than that I won't be pleased.

Yeah, the city in Dead or Alive 4 did look cool. I hope DNF has a little of Doom 3, Duke3D, DNF 2001, and Far Cry, all mixed together.

I think the real question here is not which games DNF will look like but rather which games will look like DNF.

Well, now that's a scary thought, X-Vector. I can only wish that 3DR'll raise the game development standard for others to follow. I always thought id Software was the one raising the bar, but 3DR does them one better. So, having said that, I predict that DNF will be leaps and bounds over Quake 4, RtCW (even tho id Software only contracted out for Q4 and RtCW, it's still branded under id, and falls under their standards), and Doom 3. There's no question about that DNF'll lose out whatsoever, 3DR's got all the power in the whole wide world to get an ultimate FPS in the works. No doubt in my mind whatsoever.

Well, that's bringing out some true 3D elements. At least the strippers look more realistic there, and with today's technology, as well as the future, bringing the true 3D perspective would be beneficial. Also, trying to make them look as smooth as reality can allow, none of that polygonal junk, but true image models.

It looks awesome... it looks hardcore. I don't know how much detail I should go into... one scene was a bunch of police-like SWAT dudes looking hardcore and pissed off. Slick looking helmets and carrying the "we are ready to kill you" dimeanor. One of Dukes guns in another shot looked very awesome. Very true to DN3D.(How am I supposed to describe what a gun looks like?) Lighting is awesome. I wanted to ask if the images has been photoshopped, becuase, well, they looked really ***** superior (and true to Duke Nukem).

It's true. I just printed three shots on our color laser printer five minutes before we left to see the movie. It was a really impulsive thing to do, and just for the hell of it, for a fellow Shacker. We caught up with him literally at the last second on the curb of the parking lot. It doesn't mean, or predict anything, and I maybe shouldn't have done it, but like I said, it was just an impulse.

He was surrouned by ninjas hiding in the bushes and never would have made it to his car, if he'd chosen to run.

well, I see it like dark_angel - and George`s impulse is not really that surprising. They have worked on DNF - as it will be released - for more than 2,5 years by now and parts have reached the beta stage.
They have something together and it`s understandable that George feels an urge to show their good work. This doesn`t reveal anything about release dates yet.

Riiiiiiight.... well on-topic, I've waited for the full 8 years of its existence, and I personally don't care so much for its graphics, but that it and its sequel come out while I'm still alive. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif TO say the least,, graphics of the current generation are a little too much to ask for, but something along the lines of Call of Duty or better is fine by me.

As for the screens, DNF has been one big black frame for ages, and from the look of things we won't be getting a peek. This isn't so bad however, as it would only feed our anticipation for it and subsequent overhype.

It looks awesome... it looks hardcore. I don't know how much detail I should go into... one scene was a bunch of police-like SWAT dudes looking hardcore and pissed off. Slick looking helmets and carrying the "we are ready to kill you" dimeanor. One of Dukes guns in another shot looked very awesome. Very true to DN3D.(How am I supposed to describe what a gun looks like?) Lighting is awesome. I wanted to ask if the images has been photoshopped, becuase, well, they looked really ***** superior (and true to Duke Nukem).

I'm probably gonna get flamed for this but I kinda agree. I maen it's 3DR's (or george's) decision to whom and when they show stuff but this all sounds just a bit unfair. There are people on this forum who have been here for years and are still huge fans and haven't gotten a single screenshot.
