Al Lowe was interviewed at Tom's Hardware Guide and had some interesting things to say-

J: I read that you might be interested in creating a new game, but you aren't sure it would fit into the industry's current agenda. Would you consider going through a value line publisher for a lower budget PC release? Or, do you think value publishing has a bad image, and it wouldn't be the right vehicle for an Al Lowe game?
Al: You know what? I'm spoiled! (Al chuckles) When I was with Sierra, they could create any game I dreamed up and it would be as good as any title at that time. I had the best artists, engineers, and musicians in the business. I've had many offers like, "Hey, why don't you design a game, I'll program it and we'll get some volunteers to create the graphics, and I know somebody who can do the music..." I'm not interested in that. Once you've been to the top of the mountain, it's no fun to do it any way other than first class. That said, once you've been to the top of the mountain, you want to go back to the top of the mountain!
So I would love to do another game, but it would have to be a first class. State of the art 3D graphics, animation, and sound. While fans love 2D graphics, the truth is that today it's difficult to sell 2D games. So, would I like to do another game? You bet! In a minute! There's nothing that's more fun!
But have I found a publisher willing to sink a few million dollars into one? Well, no! But I haven't given up hope yet. There must be someone, somewhere, foolish enough to take a chance on a game that's not already on the shelves! (Al chuckles). And if you're that publisher, call me!
So Al may make a new game one day? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif As a fan that makes me smile. Also, did you oldies fans catch that? The larry man himself states he would use state of the art graphics and tech. What does that prove? Oh nothing....its just interesting that people think games focus on nothing but graphics today and yet an old developer says thats what he did back in the day too. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I think a new Al lowe game would kickass.
