Hi...Do you want to see a new version of Wolfenstein 3d made by id software? If so, then just send an e-mail to wolf3dpetition@hotmail.com saying why you'd buy it, and any ideas for the game. Pass this to all of your friends!

What for? Remade games hardly ever do well, and Wolf3D was cool for its time, but probably wouldn't sell well enough to warrant a remake.

I think a redone Wolf3D would be a waste of time. But it would be cool to have Wolf3D using the Unreal engine... http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

Wolf3d is a great game...for being how many years old...WolfDoom brings back memories but A new wolf would lose the original PiZaZZ that the game possed. Truthfully I like those Doom2 addons and i saw the unreal Wolf3d promo video but they don't serve this great classic justice

Well, I do not really agree, with that Uncle Duke, I thinkd that the remakes of a game will do well. Once people know what a game is like and that they think it is good, they will know what to expect and will buy it for what they think of the original. I think that the new games that come out should do worse than the remakes of the older games. People do not know what to expect out of the game if it is new, except for the reviews on the back. That is my view on it I guess.

I think it's a good idea, we need to re-release it to the world. Most people don't know what the game is or who it's even by. It'd be great to see BJ kicking 3D nazi butt again.

Well, I agree that Wolf3D had a certan flavor, that can't be recreated with the quake/unreal engines. It'd be cool, though, to have another 3D game, using a newer engine, where you once again are out, masacuring nazi's left and right. And ye, you could attach the Wolfenstein name to ti to make it reconisable. But don't expect it to have the same feel as wofl3D did.

What you CAN do, if you want an enhanced version of the origonal, with better graphics, weapons, enimes, features, ect. Just find some programmers with an intrest, and start hacken' at the source code Id released. (I don't know too much bout programming though, so I might be deluded as to if it's really that easy, but..) I mean, look at all the doom source ports, with new features, and with the pending rumored release of the Heretic code, more information and reousrces should be avalable.

I donno, I think you'll have better luck just getting some programmers to hack the code if all you wnat is an improvment, though if your talking a new 3D game.. well, that could happen, killing nazi's is a good selling point. http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/wink.gif

i dont want new enemies and weapons in wolf. Unless its id that makes the game, no one can do it sucessfully. I dont care how good they may be. I just wanna see someone make a GLwolf3d or something for the hell of it. Make better sounds, sharpen up the graphics and add TCP/IP play and better mouse movement. Thats all. I would do it if I new how to program..

That source code is shit I mean it compiles alright but the exe has some major problems it has the code for Wolf3d Shareware, the full version, and Spear of Destiny all jammed in there very messy....

I know how you feel, I tried to edit the source a bit and that stuff is so sloppy I don't know how it could be the actual code (there's no way I could've worked on it). The most progress I made changing the game was putting the title screen music as the music for every level. A "new" Wolfenstien COULD be done with the Duke3D engine, but that's probably as close as an amatuer could get to it, only problem is the most episodes you can have is 4, Wolf has 6. Remaking the level structuer would be hard, because the level maps are probably just a file like this:
WWW <-- where 'W' is a wall,
hFh <-- 'h' is a wall w/ Hitler Picture,
WDW <-- 'D' is a door
WFW <-- and 'F' is the floor

so if you had a map that would make it a LOT easier, and for getting the art, all you'd need is a screem capture program and then use the /goobers (I think that's what it was) command-line parameter. Then press Ctrl-O (again, this might be inacurate) in the game, and cycle through all the art, taking screen shots of it all. Just a few ideas for anyone who wants to try, but I'm blabbering on and on now, so I feel it's time to click that magic 'Submit Reply' button right about...

I would like to see a new Wolf3D, and I do think that it would do well. Most remakes do. I mean, Heretic II is doing REALLY well considering that 33% of people who buy don't even know there is a Heretic I.

How about a Wolfenstein port to Linux with Multiplayer? Get people to know it exist before making a new game, see if they are intrested.

(email me about the Linux port please if your a UNIX guru and know C/C++)

An early version of Wolf3D for Unreal has been released!
You need to have Unreal and Wolfenstein 3-D already installed on your computer to be able to install it.
here's the site:
http://unrealnation.com/wolf3d/
According to feedback I've gotten, it is a very good recreation of the original- it has enhancements though- in this first map you can go to different floors within the same level (and you hear the elevator music and the "floor" number changes) and the secret floor contains a big surprise!
