How to get Bio Menace Running

It's the age old question on this message board. How the crap do I run Bio Menace without it freezing? There are two things you can do. Either boot up in Safe Mode, which is the least preferable since there is only PC speaker sound. Or you can get rid of a little line in config.sys called DOS=UMB. Actually, the best thing to do is to make a shortcut on your desktop, right-click on it and go into properties, click program, advanced. Click MS-DOS mode, click Specify a new MS-DOS configuration, and finally search CONFIG.SYS for DOS=UMB, and get rid of it! You can now run Bio Menace just fine, with sound and everything.

i remember that game....to get it running, if i remember correctly, add the line STACKS=9,256 to your config.sys

I know that! But that only worked in DOS 6.0 or older. Win95 automatically installs DOS 7.1, and STACKS=9,256 doesn't work. A small oversight led to a lot of needless questions a couple of years ago. Let this be a lesson to us all.

We never could get it running under Win95. Haven't tried in Win98, though.

in Win95. But if I touch the windows keys or alt+enter, the game locks up and the midi keeps playing. I have to reboot. But it runs great under Win95.

Same here, just opened a DOS box, ran the game, played level 1 of episode 2 for a bit, ended the game. Typed exit at the DOS prompt, and I'm still here.

Hey Joe, have you tried it on Win 95 yet? If it does, couldn't it be added to the BM-HELP.exe?
