I have this weird problem. Every time I connect to the Internet, i'm supposed to get a little icon in the task bar that shows my connection speed. However, ever since I reformatted and reinstalled XP, it doesn't show up anymore. How can I fix this?

I have a dial-up connection that usually connects at 50 kbps, but can sometimes connect at 49 kbps.

Thanks in advance.

Go to Network Connections in the Control Panel. Then right click on your dial-up connection and select properties. Next, check show icon in notification area. In this case, the system tray. That's the way it's done for high speed connections (In the LAN connection icon in Network Connections). Shouldn't be done any different for dial-up.

Thank you VERY MUCH, from both my dad and me. You win the offical Odin award of Awesomeness, which right now doesn't exist, but will very soon.
