People who are considered “The Media” or “The Press” have a responsibility to do research and not be ignorant to what is going on. If they are this way about DNF, everything else they say should be suspect. Is a journalist’s integrity important to you? The only reason she is on that show is because there aren’t that many big boobed girls that like video games, so G4 took advantage of this for viewers.

I think this WID thing and other "disappointed" expectations for the past E3s made an untrusting point of view to the videogame press, I've read it too many times and I'm sick of it.

We may not have proofs that DNF is gonna kick ass, but at least we know that so much preparation and modifications are for the best, and not for "It's ganna suck", that's too much assuming compared to our hope.
I'll be expecting their review on the game.

Remember there is a big part of this gaming generation that did not grow up playing DN3D so they won’t even know what to expect let alone give DNF a chance WID. Game Radio has about 1000 listeners, maybe more. Don’t you think it’s a good idea to at least let them know that there are some people out there that still think it will be good FPS? In the end I understand that the game will have to speak for its self. However in my book, kicking someone when their down (when you’re considered the press) just isn’t cool.

Yes, you are actually correct about that, but that is just how it turned out AFTER the fact, my point was that they DIDN'T intend to ship the 97 version, but they DID intend to ship the versions in the period 97-02. Btw, the they restarted tech wise in early 2002 and the render was finished in November 2002, serious content creation on this version started in January 2003. That is soon 3 years ago.

well, they didn`t work very long on the first build but has somebody confirmed that ?

Balgias, DNF has been in development for not more than about 8 years.

They actually started sometime in summer/fall 1997 AFAIK when they got the Quake2-Code from id.

No and that's the thing! I was thinking of Prey and how the forums are very dull. I mean there's little excitement over the features and stuff. Of course, the portals and stuff haven't been revealed but even so, DNF certainly enjoys a superior position.

With Prey, I was thinking a six-month to one-year hype period was too long to sustain the hype but with DNF that's not a problem at all. You could release 10 screenshots now, a trailer 4-6 months later and then some more screenshots and gameplay videos in the last six months before release and there wouldn't be a moment in between where the excitement wouldn't be palpable.

You have it backwards, Prey was a unknown entity when they started to reveal info, that will NOT be the case with DNF, therfore DNF won't require as much hype as Prey. This is why we should expect a shorter hype period with DNF. DNF doesn't need as much hype as Prey.
