I got a belated Christmas present from a friend today. I was rather surprised to see that it was Rise Of The Triad.

However, there was something different about this one. It was Rise Of The Triad: The HUNT Begins Deluxe Edition.

What's this difference between this one and ROTT shareware? Is this one shareware?

Don't know about the "Deluxe" part, but "The HUNT begins" is the shareware episode, whereas "Dark War" is the full version.

From the Apogee FAQ:

quote:
- "Rise of the Triad: The HUNT Begins Deluxe Edition" is a special version
of the shareware episode distributed ONLY by LaserSoft. This version has
six levels unavailable anywhere else: three regular levels and three
Comm-Bat levels.

Weird formatting...anyway, this answers your question rather nicely.

Thanks, guys. Levels unavailable anywhere else? Who designed them?

It's the regular shareware with a few extra levels thrown in that aren't available anywhere else.

In short, you can't get them in any other version, and Tom did them.
