What games can you think of that are naturally hard? Preferably for the xbox or gamecube but really just any.
Playing ninja gaiden got me thinking that there simply is not enough HARD games. I'm talking "yell all you want, get better or keep dieing" games. NES games usually gave you like 3 lives and 2 continues to get through over 50 levels of un-compromising gameplay. I think we really need more like that.
Ninja gaiden reminded me a lot of the old days of kill or be killed gameplay. Any others you can think of?

Under that logic any game with a multiplayer aspect is a hard game :P

I've found the Mortal Kombat games (at least some of them) are pretty hard.
If you turn the difficulty on them to Easy or Really Easy, I've noticed the games become impossible to play because they're actually really hard.

As much as I stink at RTS as it is, it is nigh impossible to "break into" playing Total Annihilation online.
The average players have been whittled away from the community, and the only people still playing this game online are the hardcore players, who play it all the friggin' time and know it in and out.
It's like joining the gods in Olympus for a game of foozball. "Uh, need another player...?"

Get Battlezone. It's old, so the system requirements are really low. Hardest game I ever played.

Grand Theft Auto series.
Serious Sam on the serious difficulty.

Dead to Fricking Rights. That game is ridiculously hard. It was fun until the second level. If I wasn't renting it, I would have seriously snapped that goddamned CD right in half.

There was one certain sequence of reaction time puzzles in the game indigo prophecy i went insane trying to acomplish ( i tried it 54 times, half with keyboard, the other half with gamepad ) there was just this one part of the puzzle when it asks you to press a certain key when it lights up, i tryed everything, pressing the key immeadieatly when it shows up, just spamming the keys ( this worked for every other puzzle sequence but this one $#%$# ) so i just gave up on it on the opinion that the game is F**ked up.
i like a challanging game, but nothing rediculous like that

Logic Bomb - play Ikaruga for the GC. That game is one of the hardest games I have ever played.. it's damn near impossible. If you can finish that game on hard without using unlimited lives, I will be VERY i mpressed.
Shadow of The Beast 2 for the Amiga is also incredibly hard... it's even very hard even with cheats. It's just incredibly hard.
Also Myst IV is very hard in a different way... this game is all about thinking logically and being very observant.. I think it's the hardest Myst game.. very tough.

Those lighting up games are weird, sometimes you need to do it in an odd rhythm.

Monster Party (NES)
Ninja Gaiden Black (Try mission mode, final mission, "Eternal Legend"(Xbox)
And I don't know about you, but I found Age of Empires I & II to be difficult.

GTA games aren't hard. The only ones that are hard are the first 2. With the above view, and lack of a map, completing missions was hard.
MK Deception and Contra Shattered Soldier are pretty hard.

Damn Streetrod 2, when you have to race the King on all three tracks and screw up on Mulholland drive. That was the most I've ever sworn at a game before. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tinyted.gif
That didn't mean I never beat it of course. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Kill and Knewace? GTA 1 was hard because of the controlls, which sucked. GTA 2 is a breeze!

Hitman 2.
Sometimes ungodly difficulty. Especially the snipe-a-shiek-in-a-limo-as-it-passes-by-at-15-mph-with-a-convoy mission. AGHH. Pure luck I tell you.

I was a Hitman2 nut, got every level on silent assasin rating, That sniping one was really hard though cos on my old 600MHz machine with a ATi Rage 128, I had like 13FPS in that level with everything on the lowest setting.

Breakdown for Xbox was somewhat more difficult than the average game. I think that's mainly because it doesn't impress upon you early enough the importance of learning the fighting system. So you end up relying on the guns and maybe the same two punches to get you through. You can do this for a large part of the game and then they throw you into the fire. You either educate yourself rapidly on the full complement of melee moves, or you die - over and over and over. The final boss fight is especially challenging. It's a rewarding game, though. You have a real sense of accomplishment when you beat it.

Collecting all the gold medals in Rogue Leader and Rebel Strike on the GameCube can present quite a challenge.
Also on GameCube, the Expert levels in Super Monkey Ball and Super Monkey Ball 2 are ridiculous.
