I think it should be in, and when you walk inside the windows crack and it falls apart http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif That would make a killer end level sequence.

I'll be sure to keep the Rocket Launcher in the holster when duking it out on that thing. I didn't see in any section, that it would be able to withstand a Rocket Blast right on top of it.

This is a good suggestion. It can be a candidate location if it has a suitable place in the scheme of things.

That's bad, don’t ever use that sentence in ANY game or movie. It's been used way too much.

It'd be a cool touch, and a good chance to show off some nice scenery....

I once built a level in Duke3D BUILD, with the Grand Canyon. You had jetpack before you got to an edge of a cliff and you needed to fly through the canyon fighting other flying enemies. It would be cool if you get to fly through some of it in DNF, if its really there.

Tsssk.. That 'skywalk' is for pussies. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
It's probably 10000000X safer than the trip to it.

Old wooden Indiana Jones style bridges (http://www.askadavid.org/photos/photos28/daveslegswithsuspensionbridge.jpg) are the only things i wonna see dangling over the canyons in DNF.
Even if the game is set in the near future. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

1/0 = infinity.

Kristian Joensen
11-23-2005, 06:24 PM
Nope it is undetermined. However 1/x approaches infinity as x approaches 0.

Insanity...

One time I went on a school trip to a castle in wales that was really tall. We had to walk up stairs that were nothing more than jagged rocks coming out the side of the tower and with no guard rail. I got to the top and looked over the edge and the cars were like tiny ants. I sat in the corner shaking, and everytime someone tried reaching to pick me up i'd growl at them and bite in their general direction.

So in conclusion, NO FREAKING WAY WOULD I EVER GO ON THAT SKYBRIDGE!

imho, people have phobias because they don't know how to turn fear into excitement and thrills. You just have to maniputlate your perception of fear, and make fear something you embrace.

Correct. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif INF is just the result some calculators give because it's undetermined.

I see boss fight here with a jetpack. A boss that fly. Unlimited specimen not fully finished jetpack given by US army to stop the threat. Some badass scene before the fight with "Hey pal are you going to kill it yourself?"

But the player can't hold that for the rest of the game so the US army has to retake it for some reason. :D

Nope it is undetermined.
No, it's not. 0/0 is undetermined, because every possible result is correct.

Monkey Butler
05-13-2006, 01:37 PM
I don't think that's right either, because there aren't ANY possibly results for 0/0. But 1/x does tend towards infinity as x => 0.

Altered Reality

I don't think that's right either, because there aren't ANY possibly results for 0/0. But 1/x does tend towards infinity as x => 0.
On the contrary, every result is correct, and now I'll show you.
If a/b=c, then c*b=a.
Do you want 0/0 to make 5? Fine, let's put 0/0=5. This implies that 5*0=0, which is indeed the case. Do you want 0/0 to make 975692887? Fine, let's put 0/0=975692887. This implies that 975692887*0=0, which is indeed the case. It works with any other number, because any number multiplied by zero equals zero.
Therefore, 0 divided by 0 is equal to any number. Q.E.D.

Monkey Butler
05-14-2006, 12:43 AM
But that's wrong. it's not a/b = c. It's a/a = b. Therefore 975692887/975692887 = 0, or 975692887 * 0 = 0.
And anyway, because 0 isn't an integer, it can't be divided by anything, let alone itself. 0/1 is just as impossible to define as 0/0, because neither can exist.

0/1 = 0

Little Conqueror
05-14-2006, 01:19 PM
Yeah, any number divided by 0 is just 0. Nobody in their right mind would write zero as a fraction, it only is written as a fraction for the sake of mathematic operations involving fractions.

However, regardless of what's on top, zero cannot ever be the denominator of a fraction or act as a "divided by" number. Even on another zero. It's a basic rule of mathematics. Plus, it presents a huge, gaping hole in mathematical logic: any number divided by itself is 1, but zero divided by any number is 0. So would 0/0 be 1 or 0? Or would it be the set of 0 and 1? Instead of obsessing about it, the mathematical powers that be made it null and void.

Now, as for 1/x: as x increases, the answer itself decreases. 1/5 = .2. 1/10 = .1. 1/100 = .01. 1/100000 = .00001. The answer would only become closer to infinity as x becomes closer to 0, but once it hits 0, it becomes incalculable (infinity). Any number divided by 0 would become infinity, thus...

...Thus JackpotDen, Kristian, hell-angel, et al are all correct.

NOW. Can we please be talking about how cool it would be for Duke to jump off into the Grand Canyon, and how maybe we could see a coyote eating a road runner at the bottom or something?

Micki!
05-14-2006, 02:01 PM
I want to hear a very distant "Meep Meep!!!" from somewhere in the canyon, and some kind of rocket-like sound of the roadrunner when it's running (can't see it, only hear it) :D

I'm hoping it's in the game, so it can be destroyed of course. ;)
If a bunch of pigcops blow it up while the Duke is in it, then it could make for a cool scripted sequence where you would get to use the jetpack while the whole construction crashes and falls deep into the canyon. The pigcops would be unaware that Duke is still alright, and it would allow you to come and surprise them, and give them some nice payback.
