And I'd be lying if I denied the chills I got from the last moments of that trailer.... I've never been a huge fan of Superman, but when he's pulled off right the results can be amazing, as shown especially in the first two movies and from the looks of this, this movie as well. Can't wait.

I had to check to see if this was different from the other teaser released before. It is. Nice one! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Awesome!! I can't wait for this movie, I've been following every single tidbit of information that has been released for it.. Just over 7 months to go!

Yeah I'm not very fond of that logo.

This is the first official teaser trailer released, all those other ones were fanmade.
Oh but there was also a trailer shown at Comiccon which was different to this, but nothing has really been shown of that apart from a few clips of it on some of the directors journals.

Yes I was referring to that comic-con preview footage posted in this thread (http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=popularmedia&Number=943051&Searchpage=1&Main=942884&Search=true). There are similarities but this new one is better. Love the cinematography, especially him flying above the clouds into the sun! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That kicked ass, especially the end when Dur-El says "..i have given them you, my only son.." That bought a lump to my throat, and made me think of seeing the original superman when was a kid, and being so excited.

Good stuff. Gotta love John Williams' original score; I wonder if they're using it again.
I realize its just a teaser, but it looks to remain pretty true in tone to the original film, which remains the best superhero/comic book movie of all time.

They are, in fact, reusing it.

Movie was discussed in a Christopher Reeve lecture by Bryan Singer among others. ***WARNING SPOILERS!!*** (link (http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=21873))
Batman Vs. Superman(sic) is mentioned among other spoilers there including the biggest-
<table><tr><th><font size="-1">Spoiler below:</font></th></tr><tr><td class="spoiler">LL has a kid!! That's a huge change from anything I've read or heard about in the universe...</td></tr></table>
<table><tr><th><font size="-1">Spoiler below:</font></th></tr><tr><td class="spoiler">At first I thought you meant Lex... heh. But yeah it's a big change but I actually kinda like it.. I would love to see how Clark reacts when he finds out. I'm guessing they were together before he "dissapeared".. I wonder why and I wonder if he would now regret it as he finds Lois has now moved on.</td></tr></table>

Is this new movie a continuation of the previous or a reboot to the superman franchise?
I also heard that the Director treats Superman 1 & 2 as "cannon", but ignores the others.

^Yup, Superman Returns is a "vague sequel" to the first two movies. Superman 3 and 4 are being ignored for obvious reasons. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
And as far as the spoiler thing---
<table><tr><th><font size="-1">Spoiler below:</font></th></tr><tr><td class="spoiler">As a complete guess, I have a feeling that they might have a "twist" later on in the movie and reveal the kid is actually Superman's. Mainly because Supes has apparently been gone approximately 6 years, which is about the same age as the kid.... not to mention him and Lois were shown "sleeping" together in Superman 2 in the Fortress of Solitude, after he'd lost his powers.... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif</td></tr></table>

I'm stoked for this one like I was for batman begins. Bryan Singer is a proven director, I have no doubts it'll be a great film. Interesting how they can use cgi & old footage to bring Marlon Brando back as Jor-El http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I don't agree with methods like that. If they're gone, they're gone. Find a new actor.
Reminds me of this country album put together from various performances of a late artist, they pretty much cut-and-pasted it together, and the guy hadn't been alive for maybe some time.

I just think the actor looks wimpy and too young. More seems like a Superboy-ish movie than anything.
Hell at least get the guy from Smallville to do it so there's som e continuity from that or something...I dunno.

I thought about that, I actually am begining to like this new guy. Plus, if they did use the Smallville guy then people think this is a movie based off Smallville which it isn't. This is a movie continuing Superman 2 (There was no 3 :ninja:).

From IMBD:
The cod-piece for Superman's costume took a whole month to create. Wardrobe experts on the upcoming movie, Superman Returns, spent ages designing the Man of Steel's codpiece - because they wanted to make it the perfect shape and size. Costume designer Louise Mingenbach confessed to Empire magazine: "There was more discussion about Superman's package than anything else on the suit."

I think that was the original plan, but from the last thing I heard it sounded like they'd scrapped that.

Why didn't INXS think of that! Could have done the same with Michael Hutchence and spared us JD Fortune! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif
