View Full Version : A forgotten game...

I'm tired of all this talking about Keen and ROTT... does anyone remember Paganitsu? That game is HARD! I downloaded the shareware version of it a while ago, not something I would buy (unless it was in a combo offer with a lot of other games).

There should be another game like it, I love games that take a LONG time to beat. I just discovered that the Tomb Raider series was challenging (I assumed it was a stare-at-only" type game http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/wink.gif). I've decided to settle down a bit and ignore Solu (I won't finish what I call him, cause Joe doesn't like it http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif).

Yes, that game was hard. I spent hours playing it, but I never beat it.

I think the problem with shareware is that if it's too hard, nobody will register. Since I never beat the shareware Paganitsu, I figured it wouldn't make sense to regsiter it.

That was my second Apogee game, after Duke Nukem. Bought it out of a shareware bin at the local grocery store, of all places, back when shareware was in its heyday. I spent hours playing that damn game, never got past level 17. I gave up, and was never interested in registering.

Wasn't there going to be another game with Alabama Smith? Or was there some other game that Paganitzu was a sequel to or something . . . Chaganitzu, was it? Or was that just back story for the game?

Yeah, they oughta' bring back Alabama Smith . . . 'course George Lucas would sue their pants off if he was succesful. http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

The guy who made it was making a sequal, but according to the Apogee FAQ, it was modified to have 256-color graphics, and a lot of other changes went with that, and it became a whole new game, "Realms of Chaos". Not evenly slightly like Paganitsu.

Whoa, I didn't know that. But, what the hell? Alabama Smith turns into some babe who controls lightning? I don't get it.

Isn't it rather funny how all Apogee sequels turn into something completely different? Wolf3d to RoTT, Chag/Paganitzu to Realms of Chaos, Duke 2 to Duke3d, Artic Adventure to Death Rally (okay, maybe not THAT one, but http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif)

Chagunitzu wasn't an Apogee game. That was an old Softdisk game, and Scott Miller saw that, and talked Keith Schuler into doing a sequel for Apogee.

There was to be a sequel to Paga called "Alabama Smith and the ...." (I forget the name), but that turned into Realms of Chaos.
