I just picked this game up a few weeks ago (but I wasn't one of the lucky 1 in 100 http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/frown.gif ) and think it's really cool. It doesn't seem to be discussed here very much, though.
I've seen maybe half the features in the various tables, and some of them are a real hoot. I accidentally got into Cow mode in Firestorm, and it's pretty funny what happens http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif I had to go to the Wildfire page to learn about what to do when I saw a cow, though. Levelord's message from The Abyss made it into the Duke table, too. http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif
I tried out the new video drivers that are already on the Wildfire site, and they worsened performance in my case, but they may be helpful to others (I restored the old files from a backup I'd made)
It sounds like there'll be a patch coming this week. I've had a few crashes, but I've been able to work around them by tweaking my Windows Multimedia settings (my soundcard has several MIDI modes, and some are fairly processor-intensive)
Also, Wildfire Studios is planning on bringing back the Devil's Island table ( http://www.wildfire.com.au/projects_devils.htm ), which looks like it will be for sale by download. Hopefully it won't cost an arm and a leg, or it will be kinda hard to work the flippers. http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/wink.gif
Something that was discussed before in another thread http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/Forum6/HTML/000114.html was the end of the WorldScores postings. I went to that site, and they still have Balls of Steel listed. Is there any chance of the postings being re-enabled if WorldScores backs down on the cost increase, or is this a dead issue? I bought the game because I thought the demo kicked butt, and the full version kicks even more butt, so it isn't a big deal to me one way or the other.
