Fans of the wisecracking young wizard Simon the Sorcerer received unexpected good news recently when Silver Style Entertainment announced its plans to develop a new game in the acclaimed series.

Working with the German developer on the game's story will be Mike Woodroffe, the producer and/or director of the previous Simon games, ensuring that the latest installment will stay true to the series.

Simon 4 will be in full 3D, but unlike the heavily criticized previous title, this game will return to its classic gameplay roots. According to Silver Style's Carsten Strehse, there will be no action elements and "no significant change to the gameplay of 2D adventures."

The Dev have never shipped a good title. Simon 3D was so bad it can be considered a crime against humanity. Simon is dead and this won't bring him back.

I highly doubt it. He was created by Adventure Soft (formerly Horror Soft), who were also responsible for games like Elvira - Mistress of Dark and Waxworks.

As for Silver Style doing a new Simon game that doesn't suck, well, I have my doubts they can pull it through. But let's wait and see.

Simon The Sorcerer 1 & 2 are one of my favorite adventure games. I just love the humor, settings, music, atmosphere. Everything.

The third one was an atrocity. A truly criminally bad game.

I hope they make at least a decent game out of this fourth one.
