Here are my top ten classics:

1. ROTT/ROTT Extreme
2. Blake Stone
3. Wolfenstein 3D
4. Raptor (great shooter!)
5. Super Boppin'
6. Mystic Towers
7. Hocus Pocus
8. Paganitzu
9. Terminal Velocity (not all that into flight games but would love to play someone with 56K modem or cable internet if they have it.)
10. Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure

Honorable ex officio:
CK 1-6
Dark Ages
Jumpman Lives! (I only have shareware of this; is full version available somewhere?)

The Jumpman Lives! article (Jumpman Died) on the 3DRealms news page had a link to a History of Jumpman page, which had a download link. 3DRealms has nothing to do with the game anymore, and Epyx (the original maker of the game back in '83 or so) went out of business in '89, so there's probably no problem with downloading it. At least I didn't have a problem with it. I was able to get the sound to work consistently only with a real SoundBlaster (ISA), though. It worked inconsistently, if at all, with clone cards, even in pure DOS.

The original 3DRealms article, "Jumpman Died", is in the February news, which can be accessed from the bottom of the 3DRealms homepage. The History of Jumpman article mentioned there is at http://mars.acs.oakland.edu/~klmatero/apogee/jumpman/ . I don't think it's appropriate to post a download link here, but you can get to one from the link I posted.

OK, so Jill can be beaten in half an hour. Still, it has nice music and passes the time. But how could you not like Cosmo?? Just remember, these things are practically ten years old.

KEEN KEEN KEEN KEEN

yes, Keen dreams sucks. the music doesn't even work to start with, and it's kinda like this...the other keen games used only 16 colors yet they managed to mix other colors (using two colors, a little like this:

zxzxzx
xzxzxz

but keen dreams just uses flat colors

BORING

Is this limited to on PC games? Anyways, my fav list (no particular order):
ROTT
Doom
Doom 2
Wolf 3D
Pac Man
Corperation

As you can see, I'm not a big fan of PC sidescrollers, although I have played them before, they just can't make it to my favorites list.

Damn, that's annoying...
Anyway, even though the graphics weren't exactly "stunning," I'd have to say I was always a fan of ZZT. Sure, it was more or less Kroz with stores, but it was pretty damn fun to make my own puzzles, quests and whatnot. What we need is a decent RPG creation tool... all VERGE can do is those "half-rpg" ones... with no dialogue, lots of side-view battles, and the really annoying lack of a scaled-down world map (come, children, let's hold down one key for HOURS to get to the other city!).

Doom 2
Final DOOM
Tetris

Shadow Warrior
Pacman
Terminal Velocity

1. Keen (All of 'em, but I'd say either 6 or 4 were best of all)
2. Pac-Man
3. Rogue (Real old text-based smily face, randomly generated dungeon game)
4. Empire Deluxe
5. Jumpman
6. Duke 2
7. Terminal Velocity (if this is old enough)
8. Tetris
9. Jetpack
10. Cyber Sled (Arcade)

Honorable Mention:
Wolfenstein 3D
Super Street Fighter II
Jazz Jackrabbit
Civilization 2
Mario 3

I would keep Keen Dreams up with the rest of the Keens myself, it had a lot of cool things that made it fun! The wide variety of bad guys for one thing. I still remember laughing my arse off when those grapes would squeal and fall...

Jedi Knight & Mysteries of the Sith are not old enough to be classics, I'd insert them at 4 if they were.

The favorites changed sometimes.
My first computer game was 'ladder'on a 8-bit-PC, I dreamed of falling rocks at night. (Does it still exist?)
And then found the jump'n run Keen (1-3). Very funny, good mix of difficulty and action.

Keen 4, 5, 6 were a step forward in graphics and increased the fun.

So it was clear that I also played DN 1, 2 , Crystal Caves, Secret Agent and Monster Bash.

Then I began to look for the developers of the games, and on the apogee site I found Blake Stone, my first FPS. Cool!
Duke Nukem 3D was the top when it came out. And i liked it, until I played Shadow Warrior. I (still) like it more then DN3D, because of Lo Wang's special kind of humour.
And I'm looking forward to DNF.
All Apogee/3DR games were top when they were released. I hope, DNF will be so, too!
