Yeah, any movie with any involvement with MTV is kinda bound to suck...

Heh. Aeon Flux was a bizarre, fetishistic mess when it was on MTV (back when it was cool). I never had high hopes for it, though.

Ahem, Beavis and Butt-Head Do America? Or is that the exception that proves the rule? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

That was before MTV was complete shit. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I also remember there used to be a pretty great cartoon about this guy with an alien living inside his gigantic head. Memories. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Yeah, I agree with you about the show. I could never get into it. The movie looks pretty bad too, looking at the previews.

Paramount didn't even have a special showing for the critics before its release. That alone should be an indicitive sign of "Moviegoer Beware..." Generally, when a studio doesn't have a critics' showing, it means they're just trying to stave off what they know in their gut will be a movie subject to negative reviews.

I was so dissapointed with this movie. I was really expecting it to be good. I shoulda known MTV would fudge it up. Last time I ever spend money on a MTV movie.

I had actually never heard of it. But I thought the summary at IMDb sounded promising...

Aeon Flux is set 400 years in the future, in a supposedly utopian society, where a secret rebellion is brewing. In the coming war between the totalitarian government, who impose order with ruthless efficiency, and those who oppose it with ruthless abandon, the one person who may prove that individuals still matter is Aeon Flux. Flux (Charlize Theron) is the top operative in the underground "Monican" rebellion and when her assignment is to assassinate a leading government official she begins to realize that there is more to uncover than even she expected.

But you guys saved me $15. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Don't really like Charlize Theron anyway.

I knew it would suck at the end of the commercial where she nearly gets raped by the grass. I mean there has been quite a bit of corn in Arnold's and Van Damme's movies, but sheeeeit, that was just corny. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/redface.gif

I loved the cartoon, so there was no way a movie would ever live up to it.

Just a cheap way to cash in. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif Damn MTV.

Well for whatever reason, my gf really wanted to see this movie so I agreed (grudgingly) to go last night.

The movie wasn't very good. The beginning was particularly horrible. I was starting to put it on the level of other pieces of crap I have seen such as Dungeons and Dragons & Battlefield Earth. It started to improve a little bit toward the end, which redeemed it to the point that I didn't consider it a complete waste of time.

I hated the way it was directed, and I didn't care for a lot of the outfits / backdrops. There were a lot of unexplained parts of the story, which I'm guessing stem from cartoon and make sense if you're a fan. For the average movie goer however, its just confusing. Things happen and you don't even understand why, or how (like the little metal balls that she controls when she whistles - wtf? )

The concept of the story was actually interesting, it was just poorly executed. It was really the movies one saving grace. Aeon Flux could have been so much better, in my opinion. At least I didn't pay for my ticket. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I liked Napoleon Dynamite too, which I believe they funded. The jackass movie was funny at least the first time you watch it. Orange County, Hustle & flow, Coach Carter, these are all perfectly enjoyable movies. I even liked Save the Last Dance. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The Longest Yard wasn't very good, either.

Well, duh. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I don't know what any of this has to do with the quality of MTV films; they fund projects that they think will make them money. Sometimes they are alright movies, sometimes they are not. Surprising!

No - Beavis and Butthead sucks... What druggy came up with this cartoon... it's even worse than Family Guy..... and ren and stimpy combined.

So? They didn't give a special preview of Batman Returns to either critics or moviegoers, either.

Caught this on tv last night. Darktalyn's post pretty much sums up my opinion. It had a good premise but with no build-up in the first act whatsoever. The climax fight scene was badly handled imo and the acting was mediocre.

I have to admit that even with my initial burning hatred for this film it is a bit of a guilty pleasure now. The series is still just a genuine pleasure however :)

The movie was being played at the electronics store I went to last week, on the HDTV floor. They usually play action flicks in the home theater sections. I stood there for a few moments and watched the scene where Aeon and the other girl running are in the cutting grass... couldn't believe what I was seeing. Such a mess. I was laughing at the crappiness.

Decided never to watch it.

I would rank Aeon Flux and Ultraviolet about even... they both sucked.

Didn't even lower myself enough to watch that POS. I saw the first fifteen minutes of it and stopped the DVD.

I figured it would suck, but didn't expect it to suck that bad right off the bat.

While we're on the subject, at least Ultraviolet was better than the new Cat Women. :mryuck:

I didn't see it either, I mean, come ON. It's a spinoff of a dead character from Daredevil...if that doesn't say "CRAP" all over it, I don't know what does.

You know, the truth of it is. Any movie where the superhero style main character is a woman sucks. I can't think of any like that that were good...

Refused to watch Bloodrayne because of the Uwe Boll taint... and Catwoman I didn't finish.

Halle Berry is hard to watch in most movies... but in that one she's ungodly horrid.

I got the Aeon Flux movie on DVD, for free. I sold it, so at least I profited from it. :P

The movie is...well, it's kind of interesting how it's problems are the opposite of what is usually wrong with modern action films: good direction with a crappy plot. Aeon Flux has a pretty good plot, but fails in everything else. And since you'll know the plot after you've watched it...well...Aeon Flux is definitely a "single viewing" kind of movie. You don't care to see it afterwards.
