Rise of the Triad: Dark War

I have version 1.2a of ROTT and would like to install it on my new computer with Windows 98, but it will not. I have tried restarting in MS Dos-mode, and starting the computer with the boot disk. Neither have worked. The installation program starts out fine, and shows me the list of games I can install. When I choose one, and go ahead with the installation, it crashes and nothing is installed. I can, however, play ROTT from the CD using the instructions given in the help file. But I would like to install ROTT completely and not have to play it from the CD. Can you help?

I had this same problem. Its apparently a bug with the installation of 1.2 (a or b) and something about the hard drive. There's a fix for this on the 3dr rott download page, but you don't really need it. (Note: I say the following completely from memory so if it still doesn't work, just get the fix). All you really need to do is copy all the files from the ROTTINST dir on the cd to the ROTT dir on your hd (If you have the same problem I had, it should already be there but the dir will be empty). Then run setup.exe.

you also have to clear File attributes other wise you cant save any changes

Is this v1.2a a CD-ROM? If so, then you are probably trying to install to a compressed drive, or possibly a FAT32 drive.

Either way, we have a replacement install program available on our downloads page..
