I like the "Welcome to Nevada" graphic, but the colour scheme of the site is way too murky (it's not a Quake fan site, right?) and the small black print is very unappealing to read.
Also, some of the text in the right-hand column overlaps the transition between the light and dark grey vertical lines in the background, which doesn't look good (in general, I'd like to see more separation between text and 'boundary' graphics).
Nothing to say on the content at the moment, as I honestly find the site so uneasy on the eyes that I have trouble forcing myself to read it.

NB: for what it's worth, I'm using a 22" CRT monitor at 1280x960 res (96dpi fonts) in Firefox 1.0.7.

And Yes it needs improvement here and there..
I agree with the readability...it's ok..but should be alot better. Overall it's reasonably comfortable to read at 1600x1200 but large portions of continuous text aren't.
I'm sure we'll fix it in time.

Vivi, do you still have the page loading problem? I've tested the site on most browsers. It should work fine with Firefox, IE, Netscape, Safari, Opera, and some other ones I can't recall at the moment.

X-Vector, your constructive criticism is greatly appreciated. However it is almost impossible to design a site that pleases every individual person who visits it. Personally I think RedSplat did a very fine job of designing the website.

Gaut, the people at our IRC channel speak only English. They admins may speak in german occasionally, but it's an English IRC channel.

About the layout: I think the colors are okay and the font is readable. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Here's a screenshot attached of how it looks for me. Because of the 100K attachment limit here I had to strongly compress the jpeg data, so the image may look very ugly. Also, depending on the gamma core setting of your videocard this screenhot may look milky and too bright for you, but it isn't for me. The resolution of the screenie is 1006 x 612.

Well, for me the linked text is dark brown color. Yes, it's not wise to use black color for text and dark brown color for links at the same time, but it's okay.

My suggestion: make the linked text bold and yellow color.

On grey backgrounds yellow looks better than brownish colors. The yellow in the "4" and the "Login" and "Search" buttons looks very good. Make the linked text the same yellow color. This will improve the look a lot imo.

Not bad, design itself is professional builded by the looks of it, although the lay-out is far from being original (a boring three-colom with titlebar setup is getting really old for me) but the nicely colorpallete make it up a bit.

Still I would fix that certain messages reporting that content is not yet available has a different color since black text reads real bad on a gray background.

As others also have mentioned, giving the links a different color then the normal text makes it way better to distinguish them from plain text.
