Are you going to ask for money from all your buddies here? Is there a full and shareware version? Would you send the program to me? My email address is ryans32@hotmail.com

Do people who make amature programs and try to get money for them actually make that much money? I'd just only use the shareware or say "screw this, it's not that important" and forget about the program, just some ideas if you actually want to make money off it http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

First off, I'm not amature. Second, it's only going to be like $8.00. Also your not going to be able to register until there actually is a full version. Otherwise you'd be paying for nothing.

Thx MooKeen. I'm not even sure if I'm going to charge for it. I mean, the only reason I'm writing this is so I'll have the freakin' load command.

An editor i a tool, so you can't sell it. The most you could do is ask for donations for your hard work.. At least, I think that's legal.

Hey Joe. Could you dig out those extra data files that were used in the development of keen and upload them? I have TED5 (for ROTT) and when I put it in my keen DIR and run it, I can select EGA[something].CK4 and it'll load and ask for the map name and height and everything, then it'll crash saying INFOE.CK4 Not Found! So if I had that file, we could probable make keen4,5,6 levels.

OK.. You can't ask for money for it.

How is a level editor designed for a VGA 3D game supposed to work for an EGA side scroller?

Well, it says in the text file that that's what they used. Maybe a slightly tweaked version, but they used TED5.

No. I already said I legally can't do that.

An older version, yes. It won't work straight up, and even if it did, you'd have to recompile the game source code (which you don't have) when you made level changes.

Was TED5 used as the level editor for every Apogee game? I know it was for Wolf3D (or at least it put TED5 at the beginning of some binary files in it) and ROTT (which is understandable, since ROTT was gonna be Wolf2). But how could you also make a 2D level with it?

If you download Ted, there's a help file in there written by Tom which shows all the games it was used in. It was used for all the Keens & Bio Menace as well as Wolfenstein, Blake Stone, and something else I can't remember at the moment.

So... It's TOTALLY impossible to edit keens 4,5 and 6 without the source?!? MAN! Don't you people think about the user's development needs? And, how come 1,2 and 3 are editable?
(BTW) Development on Commander Keen Studio is going great. I'm going to release the first alpha version in the next week or so. (You won't be able to save levels though.) It's just so Geoff Sims can see it. He's helping me with the data structure.
