I've just downloaded that Apogee game from 1986 by Scott Miller, SuperNova. I think it's a great game, but I always starve to death. Could Someone post a walkthrough? Joe?

Really? I always die of thirst. I can't seem to get anything done.

You can say 'buy beer' or 'give goolaa to bartender'. I usually go upstairs, unlock suite 4 (with that key with the '4' on it), and then turn on tap and drink water.

Me too, i can't figure out how to get the bartender to give me a drink

Well I figured that, but I mean someones got to know how to beat it! Especially Scott (he made it).

Well, it was like, what? Damn near twenty years ago he made that game? I doubt he remembers a whole lot about it.

We don't have a walkthrough for that.

Whoa, I guess I just have better instinct at these games, buy beer is what I did first, then drink beer. Actually Scott made it (about) 10 years ago. Pretty good text adventure in my opinion... my only problem with it is that you need a disk to save the game, and if you choose 'Abort' it exits it without saving... oh well, I now have another game to beat to add to my list (I started making a list of games I;ve beaten, it's incomplete, but has about 100 games on it already).

Supernova is Scott Miller & Terry Nagy. I asked both, neither has a clue anymore on how to finish it, but he did remember this cheat:

quote:
The secret jump I still remember: Walk done the dirt road (east or west, I cannot remember which way) and around the 80th time down the road the game will say something like "You notice something unusual." At that point type "in". And the game worps you to the icy planet wih all the inventory items you need.

Hell, YEAH!! Thanks a whole heap, Joe.

I'd like to take a moment to point out 3DR's high rate of customer service--some confused people yammer at each other on a public BB, and a guy on the inside tells us a secret probably next to no one knew about. That's just too cool.

Is this game even possible without the cheat? I've gone as far as possible on the south road, and so far that the beer evaporates out of me after I drink it when I go west & east. Who else has found the satchel with food in it? http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/wink.gif

Ok, this has absolutely nothing to do with this board, but I was looking at the virtual tour and wondered where Joe got his Cornholio poster, it's pretty cool.

Anyone know of those text adventure games they have through telnet? I've just recently heard about them, and I just found out that they've been around for a long time. IF anyone knows a good website for good text adventure games or online text adventure games, please send me the URL(s).

I know a great place to MAKE oyour own text games. But it needs a bit of (EASY TO LEARN) programming. Goto 'www.zdnet.com' and search for 'Adventure Game Toolkit'.

Yeah, the text adventures through telnet are MUDs. My favorite is The Two Towers ( www.angband.com (http://www.angband.com) ), based on "Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkien. http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

Many people will tell you to get Pueblo, but ignore them and get GMud! Mouse compatibility (clicking on certain highlighted words... if the code supports Pueblo, which it prolly doesn't) isn't worth all the keen little features GMud has like triggers, aliases, bindings and whatnot.

The best MUD program is ZMud ( www.zuggsoft.com (http://www.zuggsoft.com) ), but my 30 execution trial period ran out http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/frown.gif so now I just use the basic Telnet program that comes with ie (at least i think thats where it comes from).

Ok, if you're intending to buy the product, don't read anymore, buy it! http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif... but if you're never by any chance gonna buy it, look in the directory for the program and there'll probably be a file with the number of executions in it, I remember when I only had the shareware Duke3D, although it didn't restrict you from playing after x times, I changed the .CFG file so it said I had played it over 100,000 times, kinda neat...
