Jack Thompson. (http://www.joystiq.com/2005/12/22/take-two-gets-a-new-shareholder-jack-thompson/)

He apparently bought stock in the compnay so he can take part in the shareholder meetings and confront the president.

Here's an interesting snippet from the article:

But, as JT's letters always do, it degrades into a messy rant against the video game industry in general. At one point, JT refers to Microsoft's Flight Simulator as a training simulator for the 9/11 terrorists: "What's next, Paul, a game in which players can practice flying commercial jetliners into the World Trade Towers? Oh, I forgot. Microsoft already did that."

So basically it was the game that taught them. I thought it was the pilot lessons they took with actual pilots that taught them out to fly.

Oh and he wants a cordless microphone when he goes to the meetings. This will not end well.

I swear, this guy is like herpes. He shows up, gets very annoying real fast, goes away for a while, then comes back just as quickly as he came. And there's no getting rid of it.

In this case, maybe getting his license revoked would be the best medicine.

And Cerb, yes it is.

Yeap, the good news is DNF is still under developement, the bad news is that all the strippers and sexual refference will be removed.

Every video game he mentions and complains about just starts selling better. I think he's in it for the money now. Isnt there some law about causing the stock price to rise by making false anouncements? isnt it called "Pumping"? Now that he holds stock in Take Two cant he be arrested for this?

Pumping:The specific intent is to stimulate interest in the stock, attract buying, and cause the price to rise. Scenario, the fraudster buys a stock at lets say $5.00 a share, he/she then releases some false information causing the price to rise. He then sells making a profit.

Yeah, but it doesn't really matter since they have no say on what can and cannot go into DNF.

Yes, but they have the right to publish DNF.
With Jack Thompson (you never know what he'll plan, maybe he has an evil scheme to get power in that company via legal loopholes) maybe they'll need to find another publisher http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Nope, Take Two is still FAR from beein under the control of Jack Thompson. Also if they fail to publish DNF, they will loose the publishing rights and will have to pay 3DR a kill fee.

He has a voice within the company nothing more. For him to have any actual pull he would have to buy alot of stock.

And I don't think he will last long there anyways. If he does get too rowdy, they will kick him out. Or so I think.

I don't think they could kick him out, since a shareholders meeting is someting shareholders have access too, however that he can speak doesn't mean that people have to listen to him.

This man has become nothing more than a joke.

It's only a matter of time before not even his colleagues take him seriously.

And they won't, I assure you.

As a shareholder, he profits when they do. Living off the avails of immoral games? Sounds like somebody needs to go to confession.

There is no arguing with that.

My question is why do they take him seriously now?

Reborn again christian.

And Kristian, what I meant was, that if he stirs too much trouble he could risk getting kicked out of the meeting. Not forever, but any one that he ends up becoming rowdy in. He has the right to join in on any meeting, but just because your a shareholder doesn't mean you can act like an ass and get away with it.
I don't merely think he will just voice his opinion, he has something up his sleeve.

I think he's making a point. He wants publicity, and this was an inexpensive way to get it, given that he will probably sell the shares for more than he bought them for.

Let's see if his intentions are pure and donates the proceeds to charity. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

before he could have any control over anything like that he would have to buy 51% or more of their stocks.

He would have to be the majority shareholder. Which it simply said he bought stocks in the company. No worries here... Jack Thompson is simply an idiot who bashes games most likely because he doesn't understand them.
And has most likely never played them.

Orochi Avlis, I know that you meant that. He WILL probably be kicked out for his behaviour. Then he will probably make a big fuss about that. He will probably claim that he was censored. Then he would really be showing his hypocrisy.

Orochi Avlis

He already does.
Anybody who doesn't agree with him or confronts him, he threatens to sue them for harassment.
But he apparently can insult everybody else and thier mother just because "he is doing God's work".

But I do agree it will become more publicily known that he is a childish jackass.
