I've been using my laptop more frequently lately, and although I'm getting used to the mouse-joystic thingy (I don't have the touch pad thing), it still doesn't work that good for me.

I tried using my friends PowerBook (apple) and I think it is easier to use. It's because of the feature in OSX that slows down mouse cursor near anything clickable. This can drive some mouse users insane, since there seems to be no way to disable it. But it really works for the touch-pad thingy, and my friend actually preferes it more than using
USB mouse.

Anybody know if it is possible to get such feature to windows? Meaning is there some software out there to do it?

AFAIK, it does not really slow the cursor down when over buttons. The feature is called mouse acceleration, and means that the mouse moves faster in a general direction but moves slower when you move it just a little bit, increasing precission. However, I don't know how to enable mouse acceleration under Windows. It's a common feature under X11 and MacOSX.

I'm pretty sure it slows down near buttons/icons such.
I've read other people rant about too. Mouse acceleration is common feature in windows mouse drivers too, and really isn't what I'm looking for.

I tried to duplicate this activity on my own PowerBook, and I think it's just the pointer acceleration as rg3 says. OS X uses a different method for this than Windows does, so you may notice different behavior.

It's funny because I always felt this thing has the best trackpad I've used personally, although I did buy a mouse for it. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
