If you were to look through my music collection you would be likely to find the following artists/groups:
Britney Spears http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/redface.gif Madonna Jennifer Lopez Simon & Garfunkle Paul Simon Phil Collins Mariah Carey Da Brat Lil' Kim Gwen Stefani Jermaine Dupri Jewel Alicia Keys Fannypack Goldenfrapp New Power Generation Black Eyed Peas Sophie Ellis Bexter Christina Auguleria (sp?) TLC Mike Oldfield Anastacia 50 Cent Brandy Amber
I think it's a pretty diverse collection. For example, a couple of nights ago I listened to my very spirtitual Paul Simon album (You're the One) and then straight after listened to my Da Brat album (Anuthatantrum) where the artist raps about getting high and focusing on getting the bling bling. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I listen to a shitload of different artists and genres. I can be listening to a half an hour ambient song, then a minute long hardcore song, then an underground hip hop song, then a folk song, then a rock song, then electronica, then a jazzy thing, then indie, then some crazy noise rock song, then some avant garde thing.
If someone can give me a way to list all the artists I listen to without having to type the hundreds out, then I will.
PS: 65daysofstatic is a good band. I like post-rock. Especially Sigur Ros and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. 65daysofstatic is like electronic post-rock.
I also like Halcyon's taste in music since I'm a big fan of IDM [like Autechre, Aphex Twin, Boards Of Canada, Venetian Snares, Prefuse 73, etc etc.]

My taste in music is so friggin' eclectic, the only possible way to communicate it is to list genres that I don't enjoy.
I don't really care for the extreme fringes of metal: the death, black, and speed varieties. As for mainstream genres, I tend to bypass country & western, although I could name numerous examples in the genre that I enjoy. Otherwise, most everything else is fair game. You name a genre (that's not too specific) and I can give you a band or three that I like.
I can go from silly hard stuff like Dimmu Borgir to silly limp-wristed stuff like Air Supply (or Bread). I can go from RATM to Cat Stevens to Talib Kweli to Mono to Sinatra to Rachmaninov to Zeppelin to Sixpence None the Richer to SOAD to Celine Dion. What. What. That's what I thought.

Pretty impressive. But I didn't see any 70s soft pop/rock. No Carpenters or Anne Murray? Didn't see a stitch of country, either. I could go for some Judds right now.

There's no genre I can't like something about. I guarantee that. However, I listen mostly to melodic hardcore punk, and I can't name as many bands as you guys have done and say that I listen to them regularly. I can go from Beethoven and John Digweed to bands like Gorerotted and Cannibal Corpse, and that has to say something about me having a pretty broad musical taste.

I was only typing from my winamp library and didn't get through the whole list either (also some stuff is burned on discs and deleted from my hdd). I skipped bands that I only occassionally listen to, or that no one would have any idea who they were http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif. I also listen to country such as Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Alabama, Dolly Parton etc (old country is what I grew up with, my grandfather is in a country band). As far as 70's soft pop/rock, what do you mean? I listen to Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks (her solo stuff is great), and Bread... does Paul Simon count? I dunno. Do you mean Abba? I listen to them as well from time to time. What are you looking for? hehe Did you miss Joni Mitchell?
Do you listen to Tom Waits? That man is badass.

Hahah, I can easily beat you all on this! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I listen to lots of bands, artists, composers and deejays of the following styles of music:
gothic
gothrock
gothmetal
punk rock
hardcore-emopunk
deutschpunk
hard rock
deutschrock
metal
grunge
death metal
industrial
darkwave
visual kei
j-rock
j-punk
techno ( I LOVE BERLIIIIIIN !!!!!!! )
schranz
deep house
acid (THE POWER OF THE ROLAND 303 SILVER BOX!!!!!!!!)
trip hop
2-step
speed jungle
orchestral music (film music)
classic music (mozart, beethoven)
some rap music (only the real shit: Ice Cube, Ice-T and Public Enemy!)
and a few other independent underground styles you never heard of,
and not to forget the coolest of all: C64 SID music!!! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Any questions? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Sometimes I dress like a techno fan, sometimes I dress like a punk, sometimes I dress like a goth, sometimes I dress normal.
And now I'm listening to C64 SID music, taken from some demos coded by the good ol' C64 demo scene. And yesterday I listened to Mozart. And the days before I listened to VADER. That's death metal. And then I also listenend to Moi Dix Mois. That's Visual kei. And today I listened to Gwen Stefani.
Man, can you beat this?! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I don't think so. I'm hopping from one music scene to the other and back. It doesn't matter if it's metal, techno or classic music. I listen to it all and I have a passion for it all !!!
And now you people come and tell me you have a wide taste of music?! You can't be serious. My band list is so huuuuge, it would SPAM up the whole 3DR forum!!!!! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hhg.gif

Edit: Actually looking through your list we have a lot of the same bands (including ones I didn't list). Creepy man.

Um, I didn't even list half the bands on my list http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif, and I didn't notice you saying you listened to blues or anything like that, which I also listen to in addition to the stuff you listen to http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.

What exactly does 'OOOOOOOEEEEEOOOOOO' sound like?
That will forever be a mystery.
And my last name isn't Blackwell, or whatever his is.
So maybe we have the same mother, but she married twice, and had both of the husbands' babies?
Maybe our mother is a gasp...
..2 dorra whore?
OOOOOOOEEEEEOOOOOO.
But this really is quite irrelevant to the subject at hand.
Which is how my music taste is creepy to people.

Your taste isn't creepy. It's just that, for some strange reason, people get the willies when they meet someone who likes more than three of the same things they like.
. . . They assume some sort of lost twin situation has taken place. I do not understand it myself.

A really similar (or the same) musical taste often ends up denoting similar (or the same) personalities, eg: my ex girlfriend and I, or me and my friend Stever.
And so that's why it's odd.

I'll go for the shorter version of a "list" like some other did..
Mayhem
Opeth
Jason becker(old one and "new" one almost equally)
Wes Montgomery
Nicolo Paganini
Vas
Amethystium
Crystal Method
Nine Inch Nails
Mortiis(old Mortiis mostly but I do like new Mortiis as well)
that sums it up a lot.. and yeah it could be more varied and diverse if you add more popular radio kind of music which I almost don't have(nine inch nails being one of the closest thing to popular radio music I listen to).. but still there's a big contrast..

Yes, I like them very much. I was able to enjoy every one of their albums (especially Icon and Draconian Times), except this last one which really dissapointed me.
You didnt like the lat one? I agree they could have done better...I didnt get the feeling like I used to get (which means that I felt that each song they made were unique). I love their Dead Can Dance cover of Xavier thou http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

As someone who runs the website for Black Sabbath, I have to say one of the artists that I really love is Pat Benatar. That qualifies me for bumping a three year old thread. :)
Her last studio album (2003's "Go") is a top 5 desert island album for me. Freakin fantastic this one is. Hardly anyone knew about it, either. Shame, as it's a jewel. Even most Pat Benatar fans didn't even know about it. I'm now into my third consecutive listen to it today. Finished, had to listen to it again, had to listen again, etc... :)
