Quentin Taratino and Robert Rodriguez took in a private screening of 'Clerks 2' and give their reactions.

http://clerks2.com/?p=48

The video is only 57.6Mb, so i'm downloading it now. Mostly this is for the Kevin Smith fans out there. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm really looking forward to this one. By the way, you managed to misspell both Tarantino and Rodriguez in the thread title. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I just watched the original Clerks this weekend. I agree with Smith that it might have been over-praised, but I enjoyed it for what it was worth. The sequel should be entertaining since the characters or so intriguing.

Nope... smart ass. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif I was diagnosed with Dyslexia when I was 10. It's been something I've had to learn to live with, but I have areally hard time with numbers.

Plus I can only write upside-down. I can't do it normally.

I've been following Clerks 2 since Smith first mentioned it on his Clerks X DVD (I think that was the first time I heard of it).
Affleck and a few others have said this looks to be Kevin's best film. And very raw... more so a Kevin Smith uncut. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wow. The original Clerks was raw enough (it almost earned an NC-17 rating based on language alone). I'm thinking I'll have to watch Clerks 2 by myself as my wife was quite horrified by the profanity laden script of the original.

I don't know, but I have a hard time with numbers, letters, reading and writing. I know I'm dyslexic... other than that i don't know.

I might have other problems. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Yep. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Hell 'Mallrats' had to have profanity taken out to get an R rating, same with 'Jay and Silent Bob Strick Back'.
I own three copies of Clerks. VHS, DVD and the 10 year aniversary edition DVD. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Kevin said somethign on the website, in one of theirs video diaryies about the making of Clerks 2. He was talking with ben Affleck.
Said something about how making a PG-13 pic with 'Jersey Girl' was to clean. He had to go and do something really raunchy after that. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Me and Bon are gonna catch this one in theatres for sure. Bon's as much of a Kevin smith fan as me, she has autographed comics of Jay and Silent Bob. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I guess it didn't take him long to decide against "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" as being the last time those characters would get used.

That was because of Jason Mewes (Jay). He originaly had that as their last movei because Jason was getting really into drugs.

Walking around the sets of the moveis asking people for money. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif This why Jason doesn't have a cameo on Jersey Girl, he was going to be in the movie.

But Jason has been clean for a few years now and very proud of it to. In one of the videos of the Clerks 2 video diary Jason is bragging on being clean and sober for two years. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
So it's because of Mewes that Jay and Silent Bob are back, if he hadn't cleaned up... I doubt this movie would've been made.

Ahh... dyslexia's not a problem. I've been living with it since I was a little kid, I'm 23 now and I've learned how to live with it.

The only disorder I need to deal with now is my social anxiety. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

On a related note, I had the opportunity this past week to watch Clerks: The Animated Series, and it has to be the funniest thing I have seen in ages! I literally laughed so hard it hurt. It has pretty much every other mature animated program beat, hands down. Can't believe ABC cancelled it after only two episodes (there are six episodes--the entirety of the series before cancellation--available on DVD).

Social anxiety.

It comes and goes for me.

It was bad until I got into college, then I said "Screw it." I quit caring what people thought. I did all kinds of weird stuff like wear one black sock and one red sock.

It also helped that I decided to be brutally honest with folks. I don't mean "tell it like it is" crap where you just insult people. I mean, I stopped trying to do things like come across good or such.

I still have problems though.

Yep, own that as well on DV, and VHS. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The Clerks X DVD has a deleted scene remade with that animation style. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I love it.
It's the scene were they're at the funeral home and Randle knocks over the casket.

And MM if you like the cartoon you can be excited. Kevin has been planning on doing a full length Clerks animated movie for some time.
And depending on how well it goes, making a new one every year. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/love.gif http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes, I've heard about this, but if he did it as a movie, I imagine it'd be rated R. One of things I particularly appreciated about the animated series was that the contrainsts of broadcast television forced Smith to write material that was intelligent and witty instead of just vulgar. This, in my opinion, made the animated show much funnier than the movie it was based on.

The animation test for the Clerks Animated movie has been out for some time. It has Jay fighting Darth Vader who isn't exactly who it seems to be.

You would probably enjoy Jersey Girl. It's a movie Kevin did for his little girl, and it's realy good.
Plus it's PG-13, Kevin did a good job of showing what he is capable of with this one.

His movies....

Clerks http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Mallrats
Chasing Amy ( http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/love.gif )
Dogma
Jay and Silent Bob Stirck BacK
Jersey Girl
Clerks Animated

Watch in order, more jokes and little subtle things will make more sense. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I would also suggest watching 'An Evening with Kevin Smith'. It gives a nive look into how Kevin does things and it's really funny.

I've seen it. It's probably the only Kevin Smith movie that my wife enjoyed more than I did.

When we watched Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, my wife kept giving me strange looks because she didn't get any of inside stuff and I was in hysterics over things that she didn't even recognize as jokes!

Yeah, me and Bon saw Jay and Silent Bob Strick Back in the theatre. We were laughing our asses off and people keep giving us wierd looks.

I said the "Tell em Steve Dave!!" Right along with em on opening night. People were like "Have you guys seen this before? " http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I watched half of that video, and then I asked myself, "Why the hell am I watching this video?" So don't ask me about anything that occurs after the midpoint. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dopefish.gif

It's weird. Kevin Smith is a funny guy in really life. But I find his movies underwhelming. The film medium does not fit his writing style. Perhaps if he were a better director.

Chasing Amy is the best film he's made, but I saw one episode of the Clerks animated series, and I laughed out loud. Perhaps he fits that style better.

I watched the Clerks 2 teaser, as well (the whole thing). Jason Mewes is funny. I guess we'll see if it was the drugs or not.

Damien_Azreal

I've watched all the videos from "Train Wreck" The making of Clerks 2, and Mewes has a few b=videos on that.

He's still very funny, even more so because he can focus better on what he's doing.
Actualy he should be more like he was in Mallrats and Clerks this time around.

With the first two films or so Mewes was only into weed, after Dogma and Before Jay and Bob he got really bad. Heroin and such.

So this is possibly the best we will see Mewes in a long time, and Jay and Bob are supposed to be more raw in this than they've been in a while.
Kevin said he was dissapointed that they became so slap-stick type over the years, this is to take them back to how they were in Clerks. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/love.gif

Must go watch Clerks now... bye! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
