I got the Keen midi zip at www.vgmusic.com (http://www.vgmusic.com) . The songs were great, but I didn't recognize Keen3.mid, titled "Jazz Me." I went through all the levels of Keens 4,5, and 6 using warp but I didn't come across this song. Any idea where it's from?

I got that file off www.bpmusic.com (http://www.bpmusic.com) , I was wondering where it came from, too. It said that it was from one of the Keen games (forgot which one), but I didn't recognize it either... maybe it is from Jazz Jackrabbit...

I never said it was. This is from the official Bobby Prince music site in the midi listing:

So I think the composer ought to know where the music is from, unless he messed up.

It sounds like one of the Keen 5 tunes. Try going to the Security Center (second level) It doesn't sound exactly the same, but that's the closest one I can think of.
Either that or in the Gravitational Dampening Hub

I recognized it as being a Keen song, though I don't know where.
X, "Jazz Me" is the name of the song, and hasn't a thing to do with everyone's favorite green rabbit (aside from Bucky O'Hare--anyone remember him?).

Yes, I remember Bucky O'Hare, and the 4 armed duck, the gorilla, and the nerdy kid.
I suspect Jazz and Bucky are relatives, ie, they could be cousins and all. http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

I think you mean Miragia, right? I'm pretty sure that's the name, I never really paid much attention to it... http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

No, in fact Miragia's music is the same as the theme for the Well of Wishes (Dopefish song) http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif.

The Miragia / Well of Wishes song is "You've got to eat your vegetables" I didn't know about the meaning of that song 'til Joe got the Virtual Tour up, and found the RealMovie of Bobby Prince in someone's office.

I got that movie too. I liked it. Wasn't that his office. The way he was in there it looked like it was his office.

Man, didn't anyone read the text I posted for the Bobby Prince video? It was at id Software, and it has nothing to do with our Virtual Tour.

I didn't mean to imply it was filmed there. I found a link to it while I was taking the Tour some time ago, and I thought I'd mention it since "Veggies.mid" came up. Oops. http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/blush.gif

From bpmusic.com:
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Cool Fusion Jazz, just for
Commander Keen. Some of the
guys at id Software used to get
upset when people called
Commander Keen by the name
Captain Keen. I had to be careful
not to do it myself at first!
To me, the original Keen was one of
the most personable games I have
ever played. There were these little
puff balls that would roll onto the
screen and go merrily on their way
until they "saw" Keen. At that point,
they would scurry away and crouch
in fear. If Keen touched them, they
would explode. I always tried to
miss them :-)
You will notice that the drums sound
somewhat disjunctive in this song.
The reason for that is the limited
number of notes that could be on at
any one time (this was originally
written for FM synth). To keep from
going over the maximum number of
notes on at one time, I had to keep
cutting my drum part down by
deleting things. The toms suffered
the most. On the FM synth, you
never really heard the drums that
well, anyway. Those of you listening
to this on a wavetable card will
probably laugh at the drummer. But,
this is the exact version that played
on the FM synth (except the
instruments are now mapped for
General MIDI).<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
The reference to the original Keen makes it sound like it's from that series, but to my knowledge there is no music for Keens 1-3. Keen3.mid *does* sound quite a bit like the one for the Security Center, but there are differences. I suppose the transition to Midi could have changed it somewhat, but I'm still not entirely convinced they are one and the same song. However, both are at about 120 on the metronome (although I think the one in the game is a little slower)so anything's possible. Of course, midi speed is easily changed so that doesn't prove anything http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/wink.gif.
