I don't know... a demo is "Wow, I'm downloading playable Prey right NOW!!!" A release date announcement could reference a date that's still months away. It's certainly less than a "Gone Gold" announcement. We know Prey is coming. Narrowing down the date would be a moderate surprise, imo, and nothing more.

Are we? Max Payne was "WID", but as I recall, we got an estimated release before it went Gold. If we're talking about a 3-6 month hype machine period, Prey won't technically be "done" when they start hyping it.

I don't know. You may be right. The surprise probably isn't a release date, either. I'm just saying that a "Spring 2006" or "May 2006" would be a "surprise", but not a bomb-drop or anything.

It wouldn't even run on modern video cards. I don't think we even have much of the old game archived.
