View Full Version : Linux port of JonoF
I am sorry if this has been asked before but I was wondering if it was possible to get a native port of JonoF so we who would like to play shaddow warrior under linux don't have to play it under wine ( There are a few bugs running it under wine (keymappings))..
Heres a screenshot of Shadow warrior running JonoF port under linux Ubuntu. Screenshot in JPG - 1600 x 1200 / 200 KB (http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c374/MPXLBS/Screenshot.jpg)

Are you just lazy or do you not know how to compile things? Heh.

Dowload build and jfsw sources from Jono's site and compile them.
Sure I do terminx
No reason to be so harsh ( Which tbh you are in most of your posts) just because mr mpx user has misunderstood something.
I thought it required directx.. Ill try to compile it thou.
It doesn't need driect X for the Linux version as I understand, it uses SDL and OpenGL to achive what driect X does, please by all means correct me if I am wrong TX, all I am wating for is JonoF to rework the sound, so the use of that werid sound lib (I cant think of the name right now) is not used.
I think what TX and JonoF are doing is great, if I knew C/C++ I would gladly help in anyway I can.

That's all correct. Right now, the audio goes through JonoF's jaudiolib. Jaudiolib provides the functionality of the original DOS audio library (which we didn't receive the source code to), but sound output is done via DirectSound. The upcoming new audio library, JFAud, functions on multiple platforms and will also provide support for modern formats such as ogg, mp3 and flac. In the mean time, I think there's still a patch floating around that adds the sound code from the icculus port.
I have problems compiling JonoF build engine for Linux because it wont recognize my fmod audio library that is installed. Dont know what to do...Hoping it will be fixed in future version. Tried everything I know about so im just going to emulate it thru wine at the moment http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Works like a charm there

Sounds like you didn't install the devel package...
