Any way I can get a copy of that old goodie, Pharaoh's Tomb...one that would run on today's faster machines? (Stick figure action on 3 levels that was really challenging). I bought a copy from Apogee a couple of years ago, but could never get it to run on the faster Pentium PC.

Get Mo'Slo off our downloads page. That will help.

Hello,
is it possible to buy the registered (full) version of this old Pharao's Tomb?
Or better, can you put it for download as freeware?
2 children here with old DOS-PC's would be very happy!
Thanks,
Olli.

It doesn't run on anything above a 486, period.

If you still have your old registered version, there's no point in trying to get anything new. The program code hasn't changed in awhile.

Go try Moslo - that is available in our downloads page - it might help.

The reason we discontinued the game was because of this exact reason.

I tried out the tool Joe mentioned, but the program locks and causes my system to crash down. So it doesn't work :(
However, I still love Pharao's Tomb, which I used to play on a 286/16, but this computer is meanwhile in the computer heaven...

I have an old 486/DX2-66 running DOS 6.0, but PTomb doesn't run; I always get "Runtime error 200" and don't know how to fix it to play the game.

Has anyone an idea of what I could do? TNX a lot!

Well, that's a 6 year old post of mine right above this, and the original post is even earlier.

If you're running PTomb, then moslo should work. If it doesn't write the guy and ask about the lockup.

Hi Joe,
yes, I've seen the topic is really old. Whom should I ask for what? Sorry, I'm not very keen in patching and stuff like that...

P.S.: I think, I still have a letter written by you!

Go to the moslo site that is linked in our DOwnloads page (click the downloads button the left side of every page on our site).

The Moslo website is linked there, you can ask that guy for help with the lockup issue.

Well, I guess the problem is not the fast speed but the fact that I can't start the game at all. Does the Moslo tool fix the "runtime error" problem?

Do you have a failrly recent PC besides that 486? Maybe a pentium 3 or something? If so Dosbox is your friend, especially for a game this old. Give it as little cycles as it needs and it should work. At the '500-3500' cycles range dosbox doesn't need that fast a CPU either.

have an AMD Athlon XP 1,6 GHz running Win ME perfectly. Hope, this fits. Where can I get the "Dosbox" from?

The RTE200 problem is because the computer is too fast for the game; hence the need for moslo.

Thats a bit on the low end side, but might as well try right? Get it here:

http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/news.php?show_news=1

Just type INTRO for the commands.

@Joe: OK, I'll try Moslo on my 1,6 GHz, because on the 486 it hangs.
@avatar: Sorry, there appeares a strange error message. Where do I have to type INTRO?

Strange error message? What does it say?

Okay I just tested the game myself, so edit your dosbox.conf (located in the folder) and change the following:

fullscreen=true
fullresolution=original
core=normal
cycles=3000 (lower, if your PC starts skipping)

Now mount your folder in dosbox (start dosbox then type, replace c:\ptomb with the directory you have the game in)

mount c: c:\ptomb
ptomb1

Ablage, did you write the moslo guy like I suggested? Since that's needed, and it it locks up your system - he is the guy to talk to.

If you have a genuine problem with his software, he might want to know.

@Joe: Not yet. I just got another idea which I am going to try out right now. Just give me 5 minutes...

IT WORKS! REALLY!
Man, what a feeling to creep through old fashioned CGA gfx... I haven't played that for ages! It runs on both AMD and 486, but I prefer the 486 since its interal speaker is louder.

Thank you, guys! Thank you really, you've rescued the upcoming rainy weekend!

I just love helping people with old games. :) By the way, in dosbox the internal speaker is played via your speakers. :D In case you wanted that.

OK, I'll try it out after playing around tonight. I'll let you know my experiences!

Just out of curiousity, what version of Pharaoh's Tomb are you running? PT comes from the hazy pre-Sieglerian era from which few records are kept. The official FAQ just says v1.0-3.0, so it's unclear how many versions there actually were. I've located what appear to be legit copies of v2.0, 2.2, 2.3, 2.7, 2.9 and 3.0.

While that very mich may be true, there is also evidence of people hacking the exe files and making their own versions. Course all those versions could be George trying to spell his name right over and over and getting it wrong. ;)

Yes, and it would be very easy to do, which is why I haven't yet posted my copies of Keen 4 v1.1 and 1.2. I could double check my sources, but many of them came from shareware compilation CDs or bulletin boards, so I'm hoping they came from legitimate channels. It's unfortunate that I can't be 100% sure.
