I remember this guy told another guy that he liked Rise of the Triad better than DOOM.

The other guy said "I'm gonna rise your triad."

To this day, I have no clue what he meant.

I don't think I've ever seen a more violent game to this day. I mean, this game was loaded with more gibs than you can shake an Excalibat at . . .

I've heard it said that Tom Hall gets his creative genious from a rare condition in which oxygen has the same effect on the mind as crack. http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

Amazingly, I have. The game Blood has the most gibbing I've ever seen. Chuck some dynomite into a room full of cultists and watch the truckloads of gore and gibs!

Oh, and ummm...yeah I like ROTT too http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

The people that made blood (Monolith i think)
piss me off! I was exploring the duke 3d cd and found some preview pics of blood. And then i read on the internet that they took out a kick ass feature called "Beast mode"!! Wtf! That would have rocked multiplayer! when you kill your freinds a number of times in a row, you turn into a giant monster with huge claws. even though thats all you could use, the claws could slay someone in one hit. it was available in single player too. and they also took out some pretty impressive looking levels. Its a shame. oh well, Blood still is to date the most goriest games i have ever played. and it totally rocks ass!

bah! ROTT is still king and most original ideas. Hell, those jump pads are now in Q3:A. I remember reading a preview that was amazed by the jump pads in Quake 3: Arena and was saying how original the idea was! Belive me, I emailed him about ROTT, and told him to read up on the classics, becuase the games out now really are not that original. Damn newbies...

In fact, you can buy this spiffy "One Whole Unit of Blood" pack that gives the full game, mission packs, and some other neat junk, too . . .

Heh, look what I started. If you want to get Blood, get the One Whole Unit thing like Uncle Duke says. Then, if you have the processing power, buy Shogo: MAD, another fine Monolith game.

I just got back from Best Buy where I got One Unit Whole Blood for $11.99 plus tax. I'm already hooked.

Unfortunately, it must be run from within Windows 9x - no "pure DOS". I found this out after trying to install in "pure MSDOS mode" but failing because it couldn't find BLOOD.INI. When I went to www.gtgames.com (http://www.gtgames.com) and from there to Blood FAQ, thats where I found out.

They should have put this on the box or at least in the docs, but they didn't. Too bad for anybody who buys it but doesn't have WWW access http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/frown.gif. They will never know the problem.

I wonder if there is an EKG mode (extr, extra blood and guts) like there is in ROTT?

I also saw in BestBuy that Blood 2: The Choosen now comes with the original Blood "Special Offer".

I have an original copy that allows the DOS install. http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

To get this to work you should copy the root directory of the CD (90 Meg) to a temporary directory on your hard drive, stick blood.ini in with the copy then use the copy to install the game. After installation you may delete the install copy. Please be aware that I have no idea if this will work but it should in theory at least. And hell, it's worth a try!

Oh, and you must have the CD in the drive to view the cutscenes.
