Wow, games are cheap in the US.
New games cost 59 euros here, and an euro is worth more than a dollar.

The price is upto Take Two not 3DR but I imagine 3DR has got approval rights over it or atleast consultation rights.
Or rather to clarify the WHOLESALE price aswell suggested retail price is upto Take Two, the retail price is upto the stores.
I expect it to cost about the same as other games maybe a bit higher. Scott once mentioned the possibility of retail stores selling it at a loss, in order to attract people to the stores and then making the loss back with increased sales of other games.
This would ofcourse only be done for a certain timeperiod.
The intent from 3D Realms side with this would be for Take Two to charge a higher wholesale price and them therefor getting a higher royalty income per unit sold.

Course, the funny thing is, if $50 buys DNF in the US, and 59 Euros buys the same game across the pond, then it's kind of hard to say that a Euro is worth more then a dollar. Ok, I understand that normally the value of currency is not measured in DNF, but just an observation.

It's not funny. It's because of the european import taxes. The game has to be exported from US and imported to European stores and that costs a lot of money for the end-user.
That's why video games (original US versions) usually cost around 49 - 59 euros in Europe, depending on how popular and new the game is.
I suppose here in Germany DNF will cost about 59 - 65 or even more Euros, because Quake 4 Special Edition (the US version only!) currently costs 65.90 Euros. And that's the most expensive shooter right now.
Tim. Just Tim.

Is the price really up to take 2?
I assumed 3dr had complete control over their baby.
anyway yea I assume it will be a 'regular' video game price.
it would be funny if they came out and said "well, weve been working on this for a decade, and we did a cost analysis, and we need to charge $129.99 per game"
lol
<table><tr><th><font size="-1">Spoiler below:</font></th></tr><tr><td class="spoiler"> dont tell 3dr, but i might actually pay that much </td></tr></table>

I live in argentina and new games dont come here so fast, and its three times expensive for me (remember the dollar is 3 pesos here, like 50 bucks turn into 150 bucks) and i dont have a credit card, but guess what, for duke nukem forever i'll get a credit card and i'll order one, I WANT THAT GAME WITH ITS BEAUTIFUL BOX (yes i want a box, like the Kill-A-Ton one i have)
It doesnt matter how much its gonna cost, i'll buy it anyway.

thats because in the USA they usually don't have "betterment tax" (not sure if thats a proper word but thats what my german -> english dictionary told me). over here in austria for example you have to pay a tax of 20% on all products. you dont have that in the USA.

Go to the first the best currency convertor and you'll see:
1.00 EUR = 1.21355 USD

The conversion rate doesn't represent the true relative value (in purchasing power) of each currency, so the difference isn't as great as it seems.

really sucks that they screw us so much over here.
xbox 360 (core) is $399, and €399
even tho $399 is actually only about €325
why do we have to pay $75 more?

In Belgium the price has been lowered to 29.90 Euros. Which is extremely acceptable and I picked it up a few weeks ago because of it http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well, I don't know about a "betterment" tax, but we do have to pay taxes on products we buy.
Here in Ontario (Canada) we pay 15% taxes. 8% PST (Provincial Sales Tax) and 7% GST (Goods and Service Tax). Other provinces pay differeing PSTs, but everyone pays the 7% GST.

On the website cdon.com you can get Quake 4 for 129 DKK
That's without dilivery and stuff of course... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/redface.gif

Other countries are available too http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

However, in any store i've been in yet, the game still costs about 360 DKK... we have a EB games in Denmark too, but not in my city, so i can't check the price there... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/redface.gif

Talking about Prices...
I was just checking the city today, when i ran across F.E.A.R. for ONLY 250 DKK http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif Compared to any other store, where it costs 380 DKK this is REALLY cheap... Unfortunately, when one of my friends called me, so we could get it (he has a PC which can run it) it was sold... *Crap*
I knew i should have reserved it... Anyways, we could purchase 2 copy's within this week for the same price... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I'm looking forward for this buy... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Bout €35, or $45.
I've been thinking about it, I think in ireland at least, the price of games is increased by VAT. Do you guys have that?
Also, a lot of games here seem to drop significantly in price about a month or so after release. Eg. The Movies, €25 from €45, call of duty 2 €30 from €60
PS: Hah, had a typo up there for a sec, Call of Dury. Imagine that as a game!
PPS: And of course by Dury I mean Jury
