I was reading the May 1995 issue of a computer magazine. It has a special section about "incoming Apogee games": it mentions Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior, but it also mentions a game called "Ruins: Return of the gods". It says:
"Developed with the same engine as Duke Nukem 3D, in Ruins you will play the role of an archeologist who found an alien site into an ancient Egyptian temple. Trying to stop those creatures from completing an energy field able to bend the will of the whole mankind, prepare to face the god Anubis with many other Egyptian creatures."
The screenshots they show remind Exhumed very much. What happened with it? Was it discontinued? Was it passed to another company, which released it as Exhumed?

Ruins: Return of the Gods was sold to Playmates Interactive, who changed the name to Powerslave.

I just looked for some screenshots of it... the site calls it Powerslave, but I know it as Exhumed (I have the demo and it is called Exhumed). Why did the name change another time?
