Considering the amount of time and thought that has gone into the planning and development of the project, and considering what good games 3D Realms has developed or helped to develop in the past, I'd say there's a bigger chance of DNF rocking than it sucking. Sure, it's about faith, but it's not baseless.

Yeah, I know, it just serves me right for eavesdropping on G4's forums like that, after hearing about AOTS with Prey, I thought that it would've been nice to see what G4 was saying about DNF. Man, did I ever hit pay dirt when I was over there. DNF should be far superior to Prey, even tho Prey's gonna kick about the same amount of @$$ by the time it's released anyway. Well, enough about the apples to oranges for now, the bottom line is, I was just trying to see what's out there, and bring in someone else's opinion board. After watching AOTS and X-Play, that got me looking to see where and how they rate these games. There's a bad system that they have, I can tell you that much.

I'd say so, TechTV was far superior in the older days in quality, with G4's acquisition, that really watered it down to the basics, pretty much. Hope to see some online petitions to bring the old Tech TV back into the old lineup again!

PCG gave it a 94% I believe. Doom 3 was awesome, but G4 is just... meh.

It's been like this for years now. People always make the same jokes about the game and don't believe it will ever come out. Well, it's their oppinion. But if the game will be really good, most people won't care about the development time anymore imho.
I've also been waiting for six years for HL2, but when the game came out I was just happy and enjoyed the game. I didn't complain about the long wait anymore.

Well, that's a great idea, Tedades. First, we'll have a DukeMatch on JonoF's port (that is, if his port allows for that now), and invite a 4-on-4 DukeMatch. Four of us here from 3DR Forums vs. four from G4's naysayers about DNF, grab some RPGs and Pipebombs, and splat them into puddles of blood to send them a message. That'll rock when that humiliation is over, and we all know that DNF will NOT have a 3 of 5 rating. The rating will be 200% above that, how about a rating of 1,054,646,000 out of 5 (if you can have such a rating). All in all, will be the BEST... FPS... True. I took it as a sign that they were worried the mod would beat DNF to the 'shelves'

But the more I think about it, the more I realise it was probably in order to prevent any legal wrangles with source.

Well I hope they don't. Last game to come out with mass media publications was Halo 2, and when that many people get together and over-anticipate, you're in a load of trouble if it does not meet their expectations (which rise because of the hype). I'd hope for maybe a couple of ads, nothing more. There should not be excessive publicity to bog the game's quality down and disappoint overhyped gamers.

Just watched a repeat of yesterday's AOTS this morning, and it seems like on "The Feed" they made mention that DNF was still in active development, and will see the light of day. We all know that, Sarah, yeesh! Man, the Feed's certainly doesn't make me very hungry, I can tell you that much.

anyway, after the abandoning of the 2001 version, i kindda lost hope for a release. but as the years went on and on, and DNF stayed on 3DR site, i became restless. and then i discovered the forum, somewhere in 2003 i believe.

at the forums i discovered i living newsboard about anything Duke, with news from the folks at 3DR every now and then, and it was like i got home after many years of wasting time (read: playing Quake)

After what must be countless years surfing this forum, looking for dev's info on the state of the game. I can’t stand the ignorance of some people's threads any longer.
The original poster of this thread is obviously the same ignorant troll that started the post on G4.Anyone that read the whole 10 or so reply's should realize this and also the fact, the average IQ of a G4 member is lower than everyone’s friend "Buddy" the family dog.
The Hate thing has gone way to far, in life and in games. Nobody’s life has been affected in "any way shape or form" by the absence of Duke in the past 10 years. Yet uniformed haters bash Duke and laugh at his seaming less demise. One wonders why this attitude is so prevalent in today’s society. It’s a game after all, isn't it?
