That's awesome. I haven't downloaded it yet, don't know if I will coz I haven't finished TM Sunrise yet. I wish this freebie was made for the first Trackmania. I think that one is somewhat more entertaining and the music in it is awesome!

Tell me what you think of this release tho!

Its really, really good. I only played Trackmania Demo and of course Sunrise (Retail) before. So far its more entertaining to me then sunrise.
Just played through Basic and Advanced Training Tracks and made Gold or better an these Tracks (if you beat Nadeos Time you get a special Gold Medal).
Controls are somewhat better for me then those of Sunrise (i still play with my oldschool Sidewinder Gamepad) and thats a big plus to me.
Because its a freegame you only have that GrandPrix Cars and the Stadium Setting - but its fun as hell Online - especially when you play harder Tracks and Newbs don't know how to simply get to the first checkpoint.
Graphics are on Par with Sunrise - wich means excellent.
I think i will play with the Editor a little and make some Tracks that i can play with my mades in Networkmode.
One negative thing i must add, why the heck has this game a Starforce Copyprotection? Its free, you don't need a cd-key or CD so why? Nah, i just hated it to reboot my Computer - that does not happen very often http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
So after playing ~2 hours i would give it this score:
Graphics 9.5 out of 10
Sound 8.0 out of 10 (i don`t know if theres more then one music track)
Gameplay 9.0 out of 10
Multiplayer 9.5 out of 10
Singleplayer 9.0 out of 10

Trackmania is great to play, and it has some of the best visuals I've seen in a racing game! I hope this one lives up to that trend.

I never played TM Nations just because it had StarForce. I didn't understand why they didn't remove it from a game that was meant to be freeware :brickwall:

I want to bring to everyone's attention Trackmania United (http://www.tm-united.com/), a product that is already released in some regions, like Canada, but not all, like the US (where it will be released in March).

I'm not sure, but I think it includes all previous Trackmanias, and has a mountain of new stuff as well.
I hope that all previous music is included, and I will likely buy this.

TM:United, Webisode 2 (http://www.tm-united.com/webisodes/video_distant2.html)

give TM nations a go, as long as you are willing to risk the install of starforce it's worth a shot.

P.S starforce can cause serious problems and the sort, you probably already know, i just thought i would chuck a warning in.

I don't think I'm going to give it a chance. I learned to avoid Starforce when I installed Worms 4: Mayhem and my CD Drive stopped recognizing any discs. It would make the noise and "work", but I always got a message telling me to insert a disc. I can't prove it was Starforce the culprit of it all, but I uninstalled the game and used a Starforce removal tool, rebooted my PC and my drive started readings discs again.

Meh. :( I wanted to try this out.

I just read about Starforce on Wikipedia...
Is it true that Peter Jackson's King Kong (the game) uses starforce..?
If that is the case, i have had it installed ever since i got my PC (first game that was installed, as it followed with my videocard for the PC)

Wikipedia says it will remove starforce with that game though...
Anyone know if this game has starforce installed..? and would anyone recomend me to uninstall the game if that will remove starforce..?)

Not everyone has issues with Starforce drivers. If you're not having any problems, I guess it's OK to keep them. :)

Yeah I have about 3 or 4 starforce games installed and they haven't screwed anything up, the only annoying thing is sometimes it takes a while for disc verification

Starforce screwing up computers is nothing but myth.

Your aphorism is unfounded. Many people installing games with Starforce and experiencing similar problems around the globe is either a big coincidence, or something else.

I think that is also largely just one more internet myth. Mass exaggaration of starforce problem was born when pirates got angry cose they were having problem pirating the games in these conditions. Those that really "screwed up" their pcs, managed it by using tools to bypass starforce piracy protection and then blamed the creators of infamous protection. How can you explain that there are no lawsuits going on for "numerous" problems people are having with the protection? The problem is much smaller then people are making it out to be.

I'm afraid I have to agree with Lethe (...) because I had Starforce installed on my PC for over 2 years without any issues. Of course I finally was able to remove it using patches, but people seem to blame everything under the sun on Starforce. Truth is: I've seen perfect CD drives die in under a year without starforce. They are unreliable because they generate heat and some people have no fans to compensate.

Personally I never had any issues with it, and ubisoft games such as Chaos Theory and Two Thrones are buggy to begin with. It's hard to stick the problems with Starforce.

Starforce screwing up computers is nothing but myth.
At least that's what the Starforce developers keep saying. :D

Last time I tangled with Starforce, it caused Oblivion to crash every couple of minutes and led to general system instability as well as difficulty with reading discs. Once I removed Starforce, I haven't had a single problem.

And, yes, this was on a system using 100% legitimate software with no attempts to bypass Starforce. In fact, I didn't even know it was there until I started troubleshooting my system problems and noticed the Starforce drivers.

Also, PC Gamer Editor-in-Chief Greg Vederman experienced similar problems (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2445&Itemid=2&limit=1&limitstart=0) after installing Starforce infected software:

Last year, my work PC suddenly began blue-screening (crashing) any time I popped an audio CD into either of my two optical drives. I went online and learned that other people were having this problem and that it appeared to be StarForce-related. Deleting my StarForce-protected games did nothing. I had to run a StarForce-removal utility before my system — filled only with legal, licensed software — could play audio CDs again.
Finally, problems with Starforce are widespread enough that publishers have become increasingly reluctant to use it (Ubisoft being the most recent).

Yeah United uses Starforce, my computer is fine though I've had Starforce on here for a year now and nothing is wrong or has gone wrong, but it's because my computer has super powers that avoids any sh!tty Starforce gayness yep my rig sure is mighty.
lol on a more serious note, The music in United is just catchy dance/techno music, but if it annoys you you can turn the volume down at anytime (unlike nations) and chuck on media player, which is what i do.

lol actually that is the reason i started playing nations, because back when i was in grade 6 i'd go to my friends house after school and play stunts for ages, it was an extremely fun game back then, even the nations track editor reminded me of stunts. when i saw a small video of nations for the first time i immediatley thought of stunts... so i just had to have it.
