Exactly. I'm sure if 3DR let you do it, you'd have quite a few potential customers.

I think this CD would be illegal, but then again I don't think 3DR would mind.

The only thing I can think of doing to capture videos is using a screen capture program and as you are playing get someone else to keep hitting the capture key, to add sound have Sound Recorder recording in the background with a line cable connecting the "line out" to "line in". Sounds like it's more hassle than it's worth.

Uh... You can't sell that. Period.

Also, if thse versions you say are "1.2" & "1.3" are not shareware, then it's highly illegal, and you might be hearing from our lawyers.

Well, you could probably sell just the user made stuff such as the levels, provided those that made those allow you to do so.

And anybody who owns the ROTT / EROTT CD's already has the editors, rtsmaker etc.

Yeah, if you did that you would be just like Actura Software (highly known by us Quakers as a POS company that packages peoples mods on cds w/o permission to sell for profit. Total scumsuckers.)

It's still the intellectual property of 3D Realms.

You're using their stuff (editor, graphics, sounds, engine, etc.) to create your own stuff. Therefore, you're not allowed to sell it, unless the company says it's okay.

Next time anyone installs software on their computer, you should actually read the license agreement that always pops up.

Did you know that you don't even own the software you bought? You just own a license to use the software.

That's right. Just the license is yours. And it's null and void if you break the license. http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

You also own the disk itself, and the paper on which the documentation is printed, but not the contents of either. You own the hard drive that has the data, but you don't own the data. You have limited copying ability, which includes one back-up and installation on one computer. Furthermore, you are only allowed to use your disk, your back-up, or your hard drive to play, which means you cannot share a friend's if yours breaks. Err... at least I think I'm right on all that stuff.

think of it as buying a ticket to a game, you don't own the teams or the players, neither you get ownership of the stadium, just the right to enter the place, sit at a reserved seat and see the game.
