I did a search for; Censor, Censorship and Censored and I didn't find anything.
I wanna know who though it it was a bad idea, only after they thought it was fine, to include cursing in MP..
If you look throughout the zipfs files(Zip File-System?) you'll see the Ogg's for dukes phrases include curse words as well as notes relating to Proton, now I'm sure I'm not the first (or probably the last) to point this out, changing the boss is ok, 3DR probably said something about them using him in their new game, but removing the cursing? I like a dosage of swearing now and again, and hearing Duke say the F-word would have been a Pro for the game in my book.
It doesn't matter if anyone reads, or responds to this.. I just felt like wasting more of my time with something futile.

Hehe... probably just me but I think it was alot more funny to have 3DR bleep out most of the word. Besides, look at it from a sales POV... If he did acutally there wouldnt be the MAX sales in it from all of the little kiddies that were deprived of Duke Nukem 1 through 3D.

F-bomb = no no these days
I think D3D: Atomic was one of the first games to drop the F-bomb http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/redface.gif

The "F"-bomb was beeped out from Duke3D Atomic, at least in North America.
There was at least one "F"-bomb (uncensored) in The Fall of Max Payne, though. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Duke MP had the rating 'M', so little kiddies couldn't buy it anyway.

I never heard about mp being censored. I don't play it as much as duke 3d. I have a copy of duke saying the "F word" in duke atomic. Actually what I did was I took a clip from a Duke nukem vs south park mp3, and duke said motherf***er uncut. I used that clip to make it uncut in d3d. I have to find that file again, because mine is on my old pc.

The game *IS* rated Mature, which means technically if you're not an adult, you shouldn't be playing it anyway. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
As such, Mature games can have more explicit content.

Is the F word still largely off limits? I'm asking because MP2 used it.

Manhunt uses it constantly.

Play Brothers In Arms....They used the "F-Bomb" consistantly and i played San Andreas "ONE" time and heard at least 20-30 "F-Bombs"
In my opinion, its annoying to bleep out swears. Censership hides the world from people. You bleep out a swear, but when u go to the mall, u hear someone being cursed out with the most foulest of words.....society trys to hide the truth from people.
Also, quoting Joe, if the game is rated "M" little kids shouldnt be playing it, for it may be too intense for a 5 year old to handle....but i wuz brought up on killing games....i started playing Duke 3D when i wuz 7 or 8 years old, when the shareware came out.

You can get away with a lot in an M Rated game. Still, having said that it wasn't until rather recently that I saw the F word being used liberally.
There are still some boundaries - I've yet to see a really "big deal" mass market AO game - those are still pretty rare.

Something I think Authors censor those words, cause they're funny. I mean, there's just something histerical about random beeps in already funny cuss words. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Very true. I mean, would've South Park gotten as much attention when it first came out if it didn't get bleeped? Would it even have been as funny?
Conker: Live and Reloaded is said to still sport all of the censorship, plus bleeping words that weren't bleeped in the 64 version. Why? Because it makes it sound funnier. If you had little animals swearing constantly would it be as funny? Well, probably, yes. But its even better when the words are left to the imagination. It gives you that feeling of "heh, heh, I know what they're saying there", thus a deep satisfaction that you understand the humor.

I hope conker is uncut. That game was *BLEEP* FUNNY!

Well, its rumored that there'll be an option to turn the bleeps on or off. Hopefully there's truth in it!

that games' got a couple words, a lotta blood, and a whole lotta titties(at the beggining), as well as an interactive scene with 2 of the "back then" hookers (you're supposed to press the right buttons to get red orbs...) you don't see anyhting though, but i can hear it loud and clear! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
