The sound engine in the Wolf level games doesn't support IRQ's higher than 7. Also, it's problematic if you're running in Windows with these older games and sound.

My IRQ is 5. Also I ran it in DOS and it does the same thing. My grandparents IRQ is 5 also on their machine and everything works fine.

Here's a good one for you all. On my machine my games, such as Wolf3d, Bstone, and those other classic 3dgames, only play half of each sound. Like if I alert a guard or kill one it only play half of those sounds. Sometimes it will only play a quarter of the sound. And to make matters worse the door sounds don't even play at all. Also on some of the later games where you have to go to setup and configure the sound card I get a conflict with the IRQ. When I am at my grandparents house and playing my games there, everything is fine. All sounds work and there are no conlicts. I do remember a time when everything used to work ok on my machine but that was last year.

ES1887 Plug and Play is the name I think. It should be. To tell you the truth I never thought about the brand causing these problems.
