I don't see anything wrong with Serious Sam being chosen GOTY.

Me neither, but whereas Serious Sam was the most mindlessly fun and purest, Max Payne absolutely possessed the highest caliber of cool and the sharpest edge!

Yes, but you see, Max kicked a higher degree of ass, and therefore should now be judged on the same scale. This is blood. This is nothing. I am enlightened.

Serious Sam? Another boring FPS anyone? I'd rather pick RTCW than Serious Sam... never understood what's so good about that game, it's more boring than CS (fun for a while, but then it just get's too repetitive, like SS)
I wish RTCW dropped the zombies and went deeper into characters and stealth, could have been a ten times more amazing game if it did... now I'm gonna have to play... *gulp* ...multiplayer...

http://www.plauder-smilies.de/laugh.gif Within the genre of action there are sub-genres, take your pick: fun but mindless and blatantly repetitive shooters (SS, Q3, UT); ballsy, linear story-based shooters (Max Payne, RTCW, HL); and open-ended gameplay, thinking person type shooters (Deus Ex, Hitman, Thief, NOLF). I like them all. images/icons/grin.gif
