At work we just recently started buying LCD monitors and out of about 100, 2 of them just turn white after a while and the only way to clear it up is to restart the computer.

I remember some of our really old laptops doing this, but they were 10 years old.

I sent both of them in and they were returned saying no parts were replaced. 1 of them is still turning white.

Everything just turns white all of a sudden.

Anyone else have this problem before?

EDIT:

by restarting, I mean physically hitting the reset button or turning it off and back on. No sounds or ctrl alt del is available. Just a white screen.

Sounds like a problem with the graphics card/chipset and not the LCD monitor - did you try swapping them over to another PC? I can't imagine any other scenario other than that because having to restart the PC wouldn't have an effect on a broken LCD....

I was thinking there may be something wrong with the video, but it's onboard, which makes it even worse. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/redface.gif

the refresh rate is either set too high or too low.

Maybe some sort of weird compatability issue? Graphics card/chip may be losing refresh rate settings or something like? Likeliest to be scabby onboard gfx card related anyway.
Only other thought, could be power related - do the monitors all come with seperate power supplies?

I'll double check the refresh rates. I am figuring it probably needs to be at 60 for the LCD, but I think the default setting is 60.

I think the Power supply is built into the monitor itself, rather than having an external brick.

I saw this happen a week or two ago, same stuff. I fixed it by unplugging the VGA cable and plugging it back in. Only happened once, though.

I finally managed to get a hold on a manual for it and printed out 2 pages with the recommended frequencies.

If it continues, I will check the table out or try another vga cable.

I checked with the other person that had a monitor I shipped out and they said the monitor that came back never went white again. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
