I just bought Shadow Warrior, and I cant get any music. Even when I go to the sound setup, theres no option for any music setup. Whats wrong?

Uhm....what? Shadow Warrior doesnt have any music? You have to put in your own CDs?
*sigh* Try putting your Shadow Warrior CD into your CD-Rom drive. Then run the game...see what happens!

I have my CD in the drive! The only music I get is when the Auto-run pops up, and it has the theme music and Lo Wang says "Who wants some Wang?"
Also, I beat the game today, and when Lo Wang was supposed to do his rap at the end, he didnt!

There's something in the tech files about not getting CD audio. If I remember correctly, not every CD drive is capable of it.

when you load up the game go to options and see if music is greyed out. if it is make it so its high lighted. if this don't work i guess you'll have to read for what joe said http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/frown.gif

But even when I go to setup.exe or whatever, there is no option for setting up the music. There is only an option for the sound. I remember in the Shadow Warrior shareware, you could set up the music.

Oh yeah, and my CD drive IS capable of CD audio. It is a pretty new computer, a P2 400. I can put CDs in the drive and listen to them...

That's because there's no music to set up in registered. You're looking for CD Audio. Shareware used MIDI, registered does not.

Well then how come even when I have the CD in, I dont get music? I checked under options, and the Ying-Yang sign for the music was lit. I even tried pressing T and typing "cd on" and it said something like "Cd audio is now on" but still no music. And whenever I open the CD Player program, I can play the Shadow Warrior music on it.

I've never heard of anyone having this problem before, so I'm just taking a wild guess here... but are you playing in DOS? If so, do you have the CD-ROM drivers loaded?

No, Im playing in Windows 95. I dont know if I have my drivers loaded in DOS. When I go to true DOS (Not just a shell) and I try going to my CD-ROM directory, it says "Invalid drive specification" Does that have anything to do with it?

It would in DOS, but I'm still not sure if it would affect the game. If you're playing it in Windows, though, that shouldn't matter. I don't know what's wrong.

Its probably a screwed up CD. Because when I try to install some of the shareware games, it wont work. Also, I think some of the Build files are missing...

Only one file is missing from the Shadow Warrior CD when I first installed SW and Build then ran build it crashed?!
After I found that missing file on the net
it ran just fine..
The file is: dos4gw.exe

Pirate, that invalid drive specification probably means you don't have your CD ROM driver installed. What brand/type of CD ROM is it ?

I dont know. How do I find out? But I think I do have it installed, because I can play other CDs, I just cant use my CD drive in true DOS mode....

Today, most (if not all) CDROM drives are either (E)IDE or SCSI. So what follows is fairly likely to work.
What you need is the driver disk that came with the CD ROM drive. There should be .SYS file on there somewhere. You'll need to copy that to your harddrive, and add a line to your config.sys file, ie :
devicehigh=c:\cdrom.sys /D:CDROM001
(substitute c:\cdrom.sys with the path and name of the .SYS file from the driver disk)
Next, add the following line to your autoexec.bat file :
loadhigh c:\windows\command\mscdex.exe /D:CDROM001
That should do the trick.

There's a bit in the setup that allows you to set the volume of the sound and music.
After loading the game several times without success, I came across this and found the volume is turned down to zero. Turn the volume up in setup this should solve your problem.

Look, you should not use DOS drivers if you are running it under Windows95 as he is, because Windows95 uses it's own CD driver.
That would just cause more problems such as strange CD drive behavior.
